I'm undecided on this.  I mean, if I can get the body of the Q50 with the engine of the Q50 and the interior of the C-class, then maybe.  Until then, if I wanted a Benz motor in the Q50, I'd buy a C-class.  The next step is to hear that the Q50 will get the Benz's horrid suspension set-up and larger wheels ::)

Well the V6 is still available and the vast majority of cars in this class are sold with turbo four cylinders so this was inevitable.

I actually think this is a great idea if they price and package it right.  The regular Q50 is a pretty decent bargain right now with the standard V6, adding the 4 cylinder option better knock a couple of thousand off the price and I'd hope they offer it with their AWD.  I know it's not likely but how nice would it be if they offered a base model at under $35K with a turbo 4 and manual.

+1 to that.

I dunno... I like this idea on paper, but it will be much like the G25 that came on to go beside the G37. The price difference was minimal and once you optioned the G25 up pretty good, the savings was non-existent, but you went home with a smaller engine. I'm curious what G25 sales numbers were, because I very rarely saw/see one on the road.

What's the big deal here? If anything, they're late to the party.

Exactly, not an earth shattering move here.

Maybe they will do what Ford does.  Make the 4 cylinder the option!  V6 standard, turbo 4 is the option!

Prob because it is a gas guzzler. All the Nissan V6s are pretty thirsty.

So the c300 4matic starts at 43 and the c400 at 51.4....with the present q50 awd at 39.9?  There's a 8400 dollar difference between the c300 and the c400.  Where's that put the 4 cylinder q50?  32-34?
...except the C400 is twin-turbo-ed and the Q50 is NA.

I suspect we won't see much of a price reduction, but the V6 option will shoot up price-wise.

Perhaps 'new entry price of $38,999, V6 option starting at $43,999'

V6 269 lb-ft @ 5,200 rpm
4Cyl Turbo 273 @ 1,300-4,000

Given the lighter weight I think everyday performance could be comparable or even better than the v6.
The other possible upside is a "decontented" 4cyl without all the electronic adjustable steering radar cruise etc plus a sport pack could make the car a much better handler and more of a sports sedan.

Remember, Infiniti tried to dabble in the 'thriftier' market...even with a V6, it didn't go so well:

I'm really not sure how this move will work out for Infiniti.  I think most buyers were persuaded by the smooth, powerful V6.  Offering the same 2.0T as the C300 is just going to make folks walk over to MB and say, "wow, this Benz has a MUCH nicer interior.  I'll take it!"

Same engine and same tranmission.

Also i was surprised to read the following " QX30 compact crossover, which is essentially a rebodied Mercedes-Benz GLA"

Do they have like a partnership?

What did MB agree to share the engine or the GLA body? Wont it lose competitive advantage?

Thats what I'm thinking.....people buy Japanese for quality and reliability.....there should be a warning sticker, "warning, shoddy German electronics in between" or "not made in Japan" or something.
Lighten up Francis.....

I recently took my new Q50S on an 1100 KM road trip and averaged 8.1L /100 KMs.  And that was with 4 adults and a full trunk........not too darn shabby for a 328HP sedan loaded with people and other stuff.
