I recently took my new Q50S on an 1100 KM road trip and averaged 8.1L /100 KMs.  And that was with 4 adults and a full trunk........not too darn shabby for a 328HP sedan loaded with people and other stuff.
Yes, but what you fail to understand is that a 2.0T with 80 fewer ponies can get that 8.1L/100km down to 7.8L/100km (as per the C300's rating) if you pussyfoot the drive and tell those 3 other passengers to walk.

I can't understand anyone caring about gas mileage, when looking at entry level or above  luxury vehicles , I have never made a car buying decision based on what mileage a vehicle gets

If I like the car, fuel mileage is right down there with whats the color of the inside of the glovebox.
Lighten up Francis.....

I could see if you are poor/young and buying some horrid little subcompact, but if you are into the luxury car department, yeah no.

What if you want a luxury car but you don't particularly care about straight line performance? Why bother spending more money for the more powerful, less fuel efficient engine?

Exactly, I prefer the Lexus IS250 over the IS350, but the IS350 is more reliable.... (at least previous gen)

well along with better mpg comes lower pollution levels.   go figure rich people caring about that.  (having a smaller displacement engine also means less weight in the front end and better handling/balance) i guess the i8 is pure insanity.

Might have to call BS on that, most of these over hyped 4 bangers need premium fuel, which needs more refinement than regular therefore more pollution...
