The light grey seats in the base Accord LX have to be the worse seating material currently offered in a new car. The colour is so light they are showing stains on the dealers lot. (true story), the fabric looks incredibly cheap. I think the Accord LX with the 6 speed manual is a great deal otherwise, and I have considered it, but I cannot see me living with that crappy material long term. The Sport trim fabric looks like a Rolls Royce interior by comparison of it's material.

Good point on the light colour with the LX (light grey or beige only). Same thing with the beige / ceramique leather / plastic interior at VW - the colour combo looks good, but everything is ruined as soon as you actually use the car.

"60/40 or fight!" Love it! No split folding back seat was a big part of the reason we bought the six speed manual Legacy instead of the Accord (also with six speed manual). That and AWD at the same price. Loving it BTW.

Not an issue in my case, but I understand it may annoy a lot of people. The Sentra's 60/40 bench was folded twice in 7 years, ie at each snow tire purchase.

The Odyssey gets at least one seat folded weekly  :) ... she's the cargo queen at the house!

This has been mentioned before.  The Accord probably has one of the worst trunks in the segment.  Not only does it not have the 60/40 split, but it is not very square, like in german vehicles (Passat), even the 6 is pretty square.

That's a very clean trunk, interesting to know and it appears vastly better than both Accord/Camry. Another reason to love the 6...

I wish the was my 6 in the picture (wanted it red, instead of grey). and I have a weather tech cargo mat in my trunk.  And it's still not that clean.  Just a google search.

Is the Camry LE 4 cyl that much of a different ownership experience?

Night and day.  Two different vehicles.

The V-6 Camry is actually a pretty wicked car if you want a FWD sedan.  The 3.5L is well sorted and the driveline is all proven and durable.

With a take rate that had been as low as 10%, the V6 Camry is a pretty rare choice. The 2.0L Fusion used to have the highest take rate at ~30%, but it was packaged with AWD, which helped get the rate up.

Most midsize buyers aren't looking for scoot.

I found the opposite here.  Was looking for a 4 banger Camry and they were all V6.  It's why we ended up with a 4 cyl Accord.

To the point that the LE is not worth saving a few bucks on a lease?  This would be a car for someone who prioritizes comfort, serenity and reliability over performance metrics.

XLE V6 isn't a base vehicle like the LE so direct comparison is not relevant, lease or purchase.  Camry Hybrid and Camry v6 models offer a more relevant comparison.

If I may also point out the fact that Toyota covers the hinges while Honda does not. Toyota did remove the cover for the hinges for a couple years, a few years ago (might've been 2012-2014?)

I miss the velour in my dad's 1983 LeSabre.

Say what you will about American cars of that era, but I don't think there is anything more comfortable.  Soft, floaty suspension, and seats that make you feel like you're sitting in an overstuffed couch at home.  They were pretty good road trip cars for that reason.  Everything else about them was crap, but at least they were comfortable.

I don't disagree.  I loved the texture of the velour.  Soft, and luxurious.

My dad drove his LeSabre to over 300k kms.  He had it converted to propane in 88.  We could go from Edmonton to Calgary and back for about $3.00 when propane was 3¢ a litre.

Okay, fine, someone needs to point out the obvious.  You are misinformed.  That was a picture of the 2005 LeSabre interior.
Wrong.  Look at the steering wheel.  2005 would have buttons and an airbag.  Look at the heater controls too.  And the instrument cluster.

I seriously hope you were joking.  Lol.

Classic late 70s thru mid 80s GM interiors.  40/60 split seats with the arm rest mostly in that blue and maroon.  Comfy they were.  Note the wire controlled drivers side mirror.  Good ole days!

Yep.  My dad had blue in his LeSabre and his friend had the maroon in his Park Avenue.

It just seems to me that in the last couple of years (the last redesign of the major models) that car manufacturers are going through some major cost cutting efforts.  The cars may have more equipment and electronics than before, but we seem to be paying the price with overall interior quality.

Interesting point. No idea if its the case but I can certainly see it being true...its hard to move pricing in competitive markets and people are demanding more and more feature content, regulators demanding better CAFE + safety, so something has to give.

Maybe they should just regulate seat fabric and interior materials too and put a good ol' Nixon price cap on the whole shebang. ;D
You can't just have your characters announce how they feel.
