Well tomorrow I'm trading in my 2016 Golf R that I called Betty.  I have had the pleasure of driving her for the past 5 years.  She was my first performance car and what a car she was.

I will miss the AWD and the endless grip it provided.  The only time it lost traction was in the snow.  I learned so much about car care and really did my best keeping her looking good.

I took her for a good drive yesterday and washed her one last time.  I cleaned her out and she is all ready for the next owner.  Someone is going to get a great vehicle.

I put just over 40,000 kms on her and Krowned her every year.  I hope she stays on the road for many years.
Did I miss what you're replacing it with? I remember some test drives...
You'll have to wait for the next Show and Shine. :)
Oh ok....not revealed yet.

A Jetta of some sort .
Oh I saw his test of that....so he bought it.

Ok...cool.

So there's 2 of those cars here now?
There is actually 4 of them by my count on this forum.
GLI? Really?
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

Yeah it's very popular in this forum.  What is quite surprising is no one on here owned the previous generation GLI but the second they made it as good as the GTI it became popular with the enthusiasts.

it's a pretty compelling package...fun and makes sense...tough to beat that.

Look forward to seeing the new Show 'n Shine. The GLI is an incredibly good value. I've not yet spent enough time behind the wheel for my liking but hope to rectify that this summer. Especially want to try a manual one.

So I trade my vehicle in today after work...so you know fate sometimes likes to :censor: with you.  Of course a lady in a big pickup truck backed into me in the work parking lot.  Her square trailer hitch receiver punched a hole in my rear bumper.  So now I have to get an insurance claim started.  I already sent pictures of the damage to the VW dealer and they told me not to stress about it as it won't change the deal in any way.

Not the way I wanted to start the work week but in the end it's not a big deal.

Oh no!  >:(  I came to the forum looking for your Show and Shine, not this!  :o

On the plus side, it sounds like you have a good dealer, one that doesn't give you any more stress.

Yeah I think everything will work out but I might not pick up my new vehicle today.  I might wait a day to get everything done with insurance and what not.

Ugh, that sucks. Good luck getting everything sorted and I hope you pick up the new ride soon.

Look on the bright side, at least it happened to the outgoing car, and not the incoming car.  That would have definitely put a damper on things.  This is more of a moderate inconvenience, than anything else.

Yeah that's how I'm looking at it.  Would have been much bigger of a deal if it happened tomorrow to my new vehicle.

I am having a minor hiccup with my insurance.  I of course called a while ago about getting insurance for my new car as I was picking it up today and it would be replacing my Golf R.  Well when I called my insurance they no longer see the Golf R on the policy, so they had to dig deep to see if it was still covered.  So now they put it back on the policy for the next day so it's showing, and tomorrow morning I can put the claim in.

So with all this I'm not sure I'll be picking up my new car today. :'(

that sucks, but looks like everything should still work out...this is why we ended up returning our leased Focus 4 months early...i didn't want anything to happen to it prior to the lease ending (either accident or mechanical issue as it was out of warranty), so i just gave it back early.
