Fellow turbo-car owner.  7-years on the road.  So far, so good...
I'd rather be car-poor than house-poor...

My brother's '16 Golf R is at the end of its lease now.  While he mostly enjoyed it, he admitted it was never as much fun to drive (nor as quick) as the STI hatch he had before.  The past few months have shown the clutch feeling like it's inordinately worn for a car with only 6X,000 kms on it too.  He's headed back to Subaru.
The past:00 BMW M Rdstr, 19 Jetta, 15 Ducati Scrambler, 09 Triumph Bonneville, 98 Boxster, 17 Kawi Z900, 05 LS 430, 99 LS 400, 17 Subaru STI, 14 Triumph STR, 15 WRX, 09 Ducati Monster 1100,  08 335i, 06 Suzuki SV650S, 06 330i, 06 MX-5, 04 Audi A4, 03 Suzuki SV650S, 98 328i, 93 Civic Si, 85 Corolla

Yeah, I think that's the sacrifice you make for the R's refinement over the STI.

Isn't the C30 built in Ghent?

Yup.

Designed in Sweden, using Swedish engine (for the 2.4i and T5, the other engine options were either Ford or Mazda designs) on U.S. platform, made in Belgium, by a Chinese-owned company.

Cars are all multi-national thesedays, with parts shipped back and forth between borders and oceans. The Golf R has a ton of components made in the republic czech, Hungary, Germany, Romania, etc......

Well tomorrow I'm trading in my 2016 Golf R that I called Betty.  I have had the pleasure of driving her for the past 5 years.  She was my first performance car and what a car she was.

I will miss the AWD and the endless grip it provided.  The only time it lost traction was in the snow.  I learned so much about car care and really did my best keeping her looking good.

I took her for a good drive yesterday and washed her one last time.  I cleaned her out and she is all ready for the next owner.  Someone is going to get a great vehicle.

I put just over 40,000 kms on her and Krowned her every year.  I hope she stays on the road for many years.

Yeah I went and looked at her yesterday two.  I'm liking the rear windows tinted and they have put on some summer performance tires for me.  My Weathertech matts should be here tomorrow too.
