Glad the car is working out and I'd be happy with the mileage you're getting.

I've been called a few times after completing the customer satisfaction sales survey. I think some manufacturers make a big deal of it with their dealerships.

They make a huge deal out of it, it can significantly affect their compensation if you don't give them top scores for everything.

Well if they didn't want honesty then they should have told me to give them top scores.  The scores are all skewed as well.  Giving a 8 out of 10 isn't giving them 80%, it's something like 65%.  How that makes sense is beyond me.

I'll know better next time, but doesn't help them right now.  I guess because I am a R owner head office made more of a stink over it than normal.

I'm not a big fan of surveys in general Same here, 99% of the people don't want to hear the truth.

Either the Business Manager or Sales Manager should have had the "discrete talk" with you about the seriousness and the absurdity of these surveys.

Providing your R comes out of it's first service in one piece, score the experience either 10 or extremely satisfied on every moronic question.  They'll love ya after that.

I got into a bit of an awkward situation with my dealer this past week as well.  The VW dealer here is very big on surveys so they insisted that I fill out one.  I did so honestly and in my normal fashion and I guess I ended up giving them a really bad score (something like 64%).  Which prompted a call from head office to their sales manager.  So I had to explain to him that it wasn't my intention to give them a poor score.  The survey really wasn't set up for my situation as some of the questions weren't really suitable.  The main issue were questions about how knowledgeable the sales staff were with my car, did they explain all the features, and things of those nature.  With my Golf R having a bunch of new features and a new system, the sales staff weren't knowledgeable at all and there weren't any brochures even to list the features.

I'm not a big fan of surveys in general as they are only as good as the questions asked.  If I had been buying any other vehicle on their lot I'm sure I would have given them a score in the 90% range.  Hope this doesn't affect future service.

As someone who didn't even want my salesperson to explain everything to me I gave them full marks for that stuff anyways since I was 100% satisfied with the entire sales process. No need to ding someone for anything when I was completely happy.

Thought I'd add a couple of pictures from a road trip this past weekend to the Bay of Fundy.  I picked a route that avoided almost all trans canada highways.  There are some very decent twisty roads on this route.

Highlight for sure was passing a couple of french dudes (Quebec plates) in a 2015 VW GTI like they were standing still.  For some strange reason they were driving under the speed limits and braking rather hard for certain turns.  I also had a Fiesta ST follow me down the hill into Alma, I may have drove a bit faster knowing I had someone to play with behind me.

Overall a very good trip, nice weather, not too many drivers slowing me down (most people were leaving yesterday as it's end of season), and had some very good food along the way.

Fuel economy for the trip was 7.2L/100km, average speed of 85 km/hr (which is only that high because we took highway from Moncton to Fredericton home).  Left with a full tank of gas and got home with over a quarter left.

Not looking forward to switching out my summer tires for winters in a few short weeks.

Gorgeous photos.  My wife and I used to do drives around the Bay of Fundy quite regularly....the 15-month old doesn't enjoy them though....so didn't tour around there at all this season.  Hope your ride survives our winter roads and then pothole season  :P

Yeah we didn't take our 8 year old boxer with us, I think he would have needed a full racing harness and helmat (he's really not that good at taking turns).

I've got some dedicated winter rims and tires, plus full tire and rim coverage so hopefully I'll be okay.  I'm making a guess she'll be put into comfort mode for vast majority of winter/spring driving.

I'm sure the turbo enjoyed that nice cold air that NB had over the weekend too... nothing like that dense air for that extra bit of pull.  Notice it with my Porsche this time of year when the temperature drops.  Also have to make sure the tires are good & warmed up too though   :o

I have yet to feel any loss of traction with this ride.  Mind you I never drive it to it's limits as I haven't tracked the car (or plan on tracking it).  To be honest I don't think I've squealed the tires more than a couple of times.  I'll chalk this up to good set of summer tires and the 4Motion AWD.

For sure the AWD helps!!  I've got Potenza RE-11's on my car & when the temperature drops below 10, I can feel the difference in them.  Cold pavement, cold tire, cold air feeding the turbo = sliding rear end   :rofl2:

Nice pics JM!   We did that route last Wednesday on the way back from Moncton and the fourth time this year.  ;D. We took the other side up to Moncton via backroads (Hampton-Sussex-Peticodiac)) and then returned via the Fundy route.  Yesterday we went the other direction to St Andrews. Saw very little traffic on both trips.  Love this time of year for the sparse traffic!

Nope, wasn't me.  Didn't stop in Moncton, or drive on mountain road.

It's been a busy couple of weeks getting the R ready for a maritime winter.

I did a final detail on a nice saturday.  Did the clay bar (Mothers kit) for the first time and used Nu Finish at the end.  I may do another Nu Finish in the next couple of weeks if the weather is decent on a weekend.  Got to say I got that creamy smooth paint feeling back.  It seems a bit of a waste knowing that in a month or two it'll be crazy dirty with salt and dirt pretty much 99% of the time (the 1% is right after the monthly car wash I plan on doing during winter months).

Last week I got her undercoated at Krown (along with the Santa Fe).  It was done midweek and of course there was some undercoating that splashed up on the wheel wells driving during the week, but a Halloween wash took car of that.  When dropping it off I told the guy to be careful with her and that she's very special to me.  He kind of looked at me funny and was like what is so special, I told him it's a Golf R, and he asked if it's a diesel.  Ummm, no.

Then on Friday I got my winter tires and rims put on.  Have to say it just doesn't look the same and is now in super stealth mode for the next 6 months or so.  For sure the rims are nice and all but just looks like a basic Golf from most angles.  The new tires are Pirelli Ice Zero FR - 225/45R17.  They're run flats which I've never had before on any of my vehicles and have only heard bad things about.  But was sold on them because I don't have a spare tire and wouldn't really enjoy being stuck on the side of the road in the winter months.

So far the tires are actually a bit quieter and has a softer ride than my summer performance tires.  I wonder if my fuel economy will suffer much (of course the cold weather will have an effect on this as well).
