Here's my new Golf R I picked up on Friday. Have been waiting for her since November and truthfully I didn't think she'd be here yet. I was told fall so getting her early summer is a welcomed surprise.
It's been a crazy couple of weeks negotiating last minutes things (rim protection plan, winter tires and rims, tinting, etc), plus ordering things like personalized plates, tow hook license plate mount (not sure if I'll end up getting this or just risk the ticket running without front plates), and Weathertech mats.
I'm babying her for the first 1,000 kms so I haven't really explored her full potential yet. Didn't get much chance to drive her this past weekend either as we had company from Friday until Saturday evening, only about 130ish kms driven so far.
After a morning blast yesterday I decided to give her a good exterior detail job for a small photo shoot.
The dealer didn't really do a walk through with the features as even they don't know all of them at the moment. They were all scared to sit in her and the owner personally drove it to the indy shop for the tint job.
I'm not really all that tech savy either so haven't really explored the new infotainment system yet. It comes with Apple Carplay and Android Auto (as well as Mirrorlink), both me and my wife aren't much for cell phones so I haven't even paired my Android phone yet, heck we didn't even turn the radio on until yesterday.
The most surprising thing we've noticed so far is the ride quality over uneven road surfaces. We both expected it to ride a lot harsher with the low profile tires, 19" rims, and sport tune suspension. There's a noticable difference when in Comfort mode compared to Race.
Should get some more time to play with her over the next couple of weeks.
