Did you see the vid of Chris Harris and the C36 wagon?  AWESOME.  I suppose I'd have to buy my own gas station though...   :o

Very few wagons on the board sadly. Bit of a chicken and egg thing I suppose given there isn't much choice as far as wagons go here.

Personally with the V60 experience so far I feel I would always go wagon over sedan when looking for a "normal" every-day car (meaning I wouldn't cross shop an E-wagon vs an E-cabrio or a 3 Touring vs a 4series...that's not really the same thing).
You can't just have your characters announce how they feel.
That makes me feel angry!

I actually just did a 2000km road trip in that very 740Ld in this comparo, with the permission of BMW. It's such a fantastic car, but the Audi is 5% better in every regard. I agree wholeheartedly with this comparo and the results. I wouldn't toss the 740 out of bed.

(Those who don't know; I've ordered a 2016 A6 TDI... which I picked after extensively driving the 535d as well).

Fack diesel, fack electric. There is only one luxury car that has it all.

Mercedes E63 AMG

I'm with you on the E-Class.  Those S/A/7 boats are too big.  The E can carry people in comfort but rewards the driver with a much better experience.  And that AMG model is SO ROWDY.  It's the "Executive" sedan for people that don't want to act like they're 120 years old.
Me too.

Awesome! The updated A6 looks very nice. When do you get it?

It's about 9 months out. I went with a unique package (far more base than the typical A6 customer would want). It's a Technik, but no S-Line, and the only options are the Bang & Olufsen and the comfort seats. Usually, Oolong Grey is spec'd with black leather, but I wanted the Nougat Brown.

To clarify; this is a gift for my other half :)

Don't even ask. If I was willing to compromise (aka pay more money to have options I don't want or need...) I'd have a car sooner.

These are some awesome cars. The BMW is a few years old, but still an awesome car, and the next gen will add some sex appeal and improve fit and finish too, to compete with the Audi. However, at this price, I'd hop in the S-class without question. Perhaps, there's no diesel but it would still be more economical as Mercedes cars last a while, while Audi and BMWs are purely lease cars as they last for about three, four years and then they're done and picked up by suckers on the certified used market for way more than they're worth. A Justin Bieber endorsement or no, Tesla just doesn't do it for me, it lacks the exterior looks I'd want in this class of car.

Can you drive the Tesla across the country 1000km at a leap?  Nope.  But I doubt most owners use these cars for epic journeys.  I would.  If I had an S65 in the garage (the big car weapon of my choice) I'd wake up and, well, "Vegas baby!"  Or "Key West!" "Nova Scotia!"

Exactly, I think the Tesla is great and all, but as it sits, especially here, not a reasonable replacement for a real ICE car, I can do Vancouver in one day in a normal car, with a Tesla how many overnights would you need??? Im also with you on the S65, if I'm going into a Nimitz class carrier size cars, the S65 ticks all the boxes.
Lighten up Francis.....

Edmonton to Vancouver is an hour and a half on Air Canada, if time is that important.  ;D

Then I have all the aggravation of airports and everything about flying - which is HORRIBLE.  I'd rather drive for 12 hours than fly, thanks.  And in a big German lux machine, it'd be 1000x more fun anyway.

Plus the time to drive to the airport, park, check in, wait to board, taxi.....

Then sit beside the fat guy that should have bought two tickets/seats and have the crying baby behind you....oppps, sorry about that throw up.

Now wait to taxi back to the gate, deplane, walk to your car. Oh wait, you parked it in Edmonton. :-\

127 grand before taxes to have economical diesel luxury? Gimmi a break ...

Think about it - how many buyers in the full-size luxury sedan segment make use of 350-400+ horsepower? The V8s are nice (A8 4.0T, 750i, S550) but in reality, do you need your luxurious land barge to dance?

The Equus and XTS can play for half the price. Twice the car?

With the diesels only getting 28-29 mpg on a combined loop, my XTS VSport Platinum sees 24 mpg on a 8 mile, one way commute or 32.2 mpg on multiple hour highway drives at a Adaptive Cruise Control 65 mph...AWD.

Do you find the iron block a bit noisey? I had iron block 2.3l in the Saab's and a 1.4l Buick Encore that sounded similarly. The Buick Encore had active noise cancelation which the block material wasn't noticeable until you slightly opened the window.
