Nice selfie.

Lawyer - owned!

On a serious note, though. I just had the seat bottom (vinyl) replaced in my 5-year-old E350. The new surface looks no different than the 5yo one. Virtually no wear after 5 years. Love this.

To those who prefer the ILX to the TLX.
From a lot of reports, the ILX still has NHV issues and that cancels the luxury or even premium status of the car in my book. For that reason alone, I would give up a feature or two and go TLX.

Would love to see how this car would fare against the 2004 - 08 TSX or even the CSX S-type.  I suspect there wouldn't be much difference and perhaps it would even fare worse in the case of the TSX (better handling).  Either way the former two can be had with a manual, so much more fun.  I really have to wonder about Acura offering up an A-Spec without that option especially as they build such a nice manual box.

I'm surprised this article didn't mention the #1 main competitor to this car and the car that defined this segment.  The Buick Verano.   The Verano also has an optional manual with the 2.0L Turbo option which can be had for around $30K after incentives.

The Verano has a much nicer interior as well.  I'm surprised how low rent the ILX interior is.   It's barely better than a Civic interior.

Have you sat in both?  I personally haven't sat in either yet but I'd be interested in your thoughts on each.  Everything I've read so far on the ILX's interior has been pretty positive so I'd like to hear your specific thoughts on it.

I'll easily take plaid over a cliched black leather seat that will scorch your arse in summer, freeze it in winter unless you spring for the heated/cooled versions, and look like a 90year old's face in 5 years unless you "maintain" it every other week with exotic care products.

I guess I must really be an anomaly.  I've owned leather in my vehicles for years now and never once thought they were too cold in the winter or too hot in the summer.  And as far as maintenance is concerned, leather is no where close to cloth in terms of up keep.  You make it sound like cloth is so much easier.  Ummm..nope.   ;D ;)

I haven't been in the updated ILX but the older version's interior was much more refined than the low rent Civic.

I like my Mazda 3's leather, although I don't expect it to last more than 6 years. But 3 years and 65,000km later, they still look decent. When they need to be replaced, I'll get high quality stuff to replace it.

The leather in my 6 was fine at 8 years old and nearly 200k.

Yes I have been in Both.  I've driven a Verano a number of times.  The new ILX I've just been inside briefly at an auto show.  But the ILX I was surprised by the hard touch plastics.  The Verano you have to go hunting for hard touch plastics to find them.  Also I found the Verano seats nicer and more comfortable.   Though the ILX seats will likely hold you better in the twists.

ILX:

Verano:

I'll take the Verano any day.

Also of note there will be an all new Verano that will be launched some time within the next year.

And you can get the Buick with a manual transmission and not with the Acura...

Seems very backwards.

Virtually every other review I have read about this updated / revised ILX has stated there was a good effort made to reduce noise. Seems maybe not enough.

Here is a link to cabin noise ratings on some cars.

Equal to Audi A3... but not at quiet as others.

again, same here.
same here as well...my last 3 vehicles had "leather"...a 1992 Grand Marquis, a 2000 Taurus and my current 2012 Rio5...i realize the leather is likely vinyl/faux and not premium nappa leather, but i have found all these vehicles wore just fine...none of them had any issues with wear, and my Rio5 still looks like new even after 3 years...the only maintenance it gets is at most, annual cleaning when it is detailed...of course, if i notice something spilled in my car, i clean it up, so i do take care of it that way.

Speaking of competitors, is the ILX not competing with the Accord V6 at this price point.

I'll take Accord Sport V6 engine over a four any day.
