I'd buy used anyway. 2011 Honda Odyssey EX-RES and Navigation 58k km asking $25,680 with a 24 month financing rate of 1.99%. With $7,000 down that's $916 a month for 24 months without haggling. Tempting. But not for a couple of years

A brand new Honda Odyssey EX in comparison with $7,000 down is $978 a month for 36 months (0.99%), EX-RES add $50/mo.

Something seems off there.  $7000 + (24*$916) = $28,984. Cost of borrowing is $3,304?

$25680 + 5% GST + 7% BC PST = $28761. Hm, cost of borrowing should be $443.

A new van on the block

Passenger vans — starting at just less than $34,000 — although not being marketed or sold as family minivans, offer a nice selection of creature comforts like heated front seats, extra storage netting, cruise control, reading lights, grab handles and more.

I'm interested as I like these style vans. RWD is a bonus.

i'd also say that consumers can also thank Kia/Hyundai for such low financing rates on Honda/Toyota products as well...while Kia/Hyundai have been long been known to push their marketing money on low interest finance rates, that was relatively unheard of several years ago with the Toyota and Honda brands.
When you've lost the argument, admit defeat and hit the smite button.

C/D mentioned that the Metris isn't direct competition to the fancy crop of minivans - the rear seats are apparently bus-like, straight-plain-stiff, and finishings in the back are airport-shuttle grade. Haven't looked at the van myself yet, but doesn't look as bad as they're saying:

The Metris could be used as shuttles for hotels, airports, and car dealerships. I don't think those seats would be uncomfortable. The materials look great.

Same.  And very comfy.  Been in the equivalent MB Viano/Vito.  And you can get them in 4matic.

Maybe the Metris is simply viewed as too commercial for them. Me, I love the Euro style vans.

I wanted the Ford Transit Connect but it was 1. Too small and 2. Too expensive for what they were offering. From $33,995, the Metris passenger version appears to be a fantastic value.

But I'll probably end up with a preowned Odyssey EX/EX-RES/EX-L or Sienna SE.
