Again, I'm not saying that 28.9L/100km is absurd for the situation described, it's just a shock to someone who has never driven a truck more than 3km, and fully unloaded during that time.

Oh yeah, thats when I hear people complaining that whatever crapbox is "only getting" 7l/100km in the city I have to laugh. I can't even imagine getting something with that good of mileage.

My neighbour brags about spending over $1200 to tow his boat to the coast and then drive home (sans boat) in his V-10 Excursion.  Well, not to me anymore after I said "you're a facking moron if you think that's some sort of accomplishment."

I was doing 140 in the Miata on 16 not far from Edson and a lunatic went BY ME with his holiday trailer - I saw the trailer leave the ground once over a bump - unreal.

Friggin Riggers with the 1 ton diesel stacked to the max. Asshats all of them Never understood the economics of hauling a massive trailer through the rockies. Tenting or luxury condo for me please. Considering all the fuel/massive truck/campground fees/storage fees etc. a  luxury condo with pool is cheaper.

I get a lift into work with a neighbour once in a while if he spots me at the bus stop. He's got an F150 Platinum. He's into vintage sled racing, so his nice white leather interior is usually stacked with old sled parts. It's kind of funny.

In Alberta, guys finance expensive trucks for 96 months and then have to roll their "negative equity" into the next one when they want a new truck every three years.  It's hilarious.

That truck can do whatever a car can do and is more comfortable than a vast amount of cars....however driving around a parkade, you do have to be careful not to flatten whatever eco car du jour is parked about.

Parkades are brutal. We spent a few days in Kelowna a while ago and had to put the Yukon in the parkade there. Made it through the first "Clearance 6'5"" sign no problem, but there was still some pipe/beam/thing on the second floor that would just brush the top of the roofrack crossbar. No real damage done, but made me cringe every time.

1. You can no problem, just have to be cognizant of the size of vehicle
2. Some can, Ram diesel and the Ecoboost
3. Truck sightlines are awesome!!
4. I'd rather step up into a truck then fall down into a car
5. While a truck isn't sporty, the same can be said of a Corolla, Rio.....

i find the top level trucks are for the owner of the moving company/construction company/other "many" profession... basically, what his employees have to drive, only with every option possible.

the guys who do the 96 month thing tend to get the mid levels... god forbid they get a base one and can afford it.

anyway, this is a nice rig... too bad that there aren't big incentives on it, but nice none the less. 4500 off on this is nothing. sure there is probably at least that on the discount side as well, but still 65k transaction price for this is steep. i compare it to our ram laramie limited with the diesel (and every option available)... about 5k less doing the same type of discount. can't tow/haul as much, but has a few other things going for it over this.

7. haul things for work and/or play
8. get country girls

they are a mode of transportation... that is what is similar. to start comparing two opposite ends of the spectrum like that is crazy.

Let's spin the broken record...

I drove loaded pickup trucks for years as daily drivers and weekend haulers.

It sucks.

The penalty is too great and the trucks are so expensive that I'd worry about them while off road, which I was often.

Having a decent car as a daily driver and basically a work truck for truck duty is way better...just a lot more expensive.
