generally, torque aids in acceleration and horsepower aids in top speed.

Oi! I'm being pithy here, you keep your "actual facts" and "science" out of it!

the original quote, from the movie The Rock (starring Nicholas Cage and Sean Connery) is:

You remember the 90s?  I mostly recall dulling the pain of engineering school by going to raves.

I absolutely love the new ND Miata.  I'd get the base model in 6-speed manual transmission as a fun summer car.  Perhaps one day...

Looks like I'm picking up a '99 (with an auto :() for my 16 year old daughter, 130 km.  It's been years since I had any seat time in one, I forgot how grin inducing this car is....

She can drive stick, but for the first couple of years of city driving she and I both feel more comfortable with less to worry about

Maybe. I know several friends who learned to drive with a stick shift. I learned to drive in an auto, then got my first stick shift. Stalled sooo many times that first week. Hard to tell. Maybe the problem is drivers tend to be rushed into the wild with little training lot practice if any, not like motorcyclists who tend to spend 15+ hours getting comfortable with using a bike in a training lot before getting out onto the road.

Actually saw a 2016 MX5 today  on the highway coming from the Halifax airport. It was that soul red colour. Didn't think there were any available yet to the public.
It might have been a press car from Mazda Canada. Can't wait to get  a closer view from the drivers seat.

I know they've been available in the U.S. for a couple of weeks.

No argument here. :)

Yes I saw they have been available there already. I had heard Canada wouldn't be getting any until the fall. Great just in time to put into winter storage. >:(
Just saw that  particular car and thought it was odd.

Mazda really does have an odd marketing strategy.   :-\

I'm really glad that they stuck with the less is more theme for a roadster and hope they sell a pile of them.  I've seen a couple of video reviews saying how brave they were sticking with this theme, but i think it's a survival necessity for Mazda.  Just by rough observation around here I see about 10:1 MX5s to Mazda 6s.  I don't know of any other mainstream car company that sells more , or almost as many sportscars as sedans.  :-\

A friend has a deposit on an ND - and the dealer feels confident he'll easily get one, but I guess now they're warning people that they are probably getting close to selling out their first year allocation if they guess right on their numbers.

Saw a red one today in Moncton.  It had Quebec plates.

Ah that's probably the mystery one I saw.  Mazda Canada does have a brochure you can download from  their website with prices. Maybe it won't be too far off that I can see one in a local showroom.  http://allnewmx5.ca/   I'll take mine in Crystal White Pearl

I see there's a build & price now - GS for me.
The lack of colour choices is a disappointment - would likely go white as well, but not familiar with the 'ceramic metallic' - is that grey? blue?

Go to the Payment Options section.  There's a $1 "Oil Filter Fee" charge.  Seriously??   ::)
