At least one of our local dealers has a long list of deposits taken - the new car is going to sell out quickly - then we'll see how demand holds up once the initial rush is over. Hopefully there is enough sustained demand - this has turned in a halo product for Mazda but they deserve to earn profits on it too.  Design like this hopefully will be rewarded with padding to their bottom line.

Your comment that someone who owns a Corolla has no understanding what a fast car actually is a double dig - you're bashing someone's ride and you're making an assumption.

I owned an Echo along with the Supra.  Does that mean I don't know what fast is?
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

And lets not forget that Honda Insight (?) thing you had.

Oh yea! That was slower yet. Though I think the Forester is the slowest vehicle I've ever owned.

There's no way the Forester's slower than the Insight.  Maybe you're lost compression on three of the four pots?

He only drove it when there was 30cm of snow, and only full time AWD can handle that!    ;)

Car and Driver had a Forester at 0-60 in 10 seconds. Same as the Insight.

Maybe it's just all the H4 noise, but the Forester feels a little quicker than that.  Though, if you really want to feel slow, put the AC on.  I've never owned another car that had its AC system rob so much power.

In the Highlander I don't even notice.  In the Corolla, I notice, but not much.  In the Forester, I think, "whaa, did someone steal the engine?"  And then realize the AC is on.

My moms Legacy was like that, mind you the 140hp 2.2 4 banger didn't help, but yeah, the AC made a huge difference, like the e-brake was on.
Lighten up Francis.....

I feel the car "nudge" when the compressor cycles. I fully agree with what you're saying here.

Back to the ND, you either get this type of sports car or you don't.
I've owned two Miatas (1990 with a V8 engine and a 1997 that was mainly a track car) and I would consider buying a ND, if I ever got tired of my Intermeccanica 356 replica.
I like small, light, sports cars.  Having said that, I also really like the 2015 Mustang GT convertible.
A computer once beat me at chess, but it was no match for me at kickboxing.

Talk about somebody that doesn't really use his Miata the way most people do.  Change it to a V8?  And track it....

I'd planned on taking my Miata to the track - but rollbar rules have quashed it for me.  I can't fit a rollbar that will allow the top to be used and be safe for helmet-less street driving.

But, I've Auto-X'd it, and that's quite a bit of fun.

Yup.  They would allow NCs with the PRHT if it is closed.

Would purchasing a hardtop for your car make it eligible? Kind of defeats the opentop experience though.

I have the original hardtop for the car and our local track says it's not enough.  Evidently PRHTs just meet it as they were crash tested with the roof up and down and meet much more modern standards for rollover protection.

You mean that no one has come up with a rollbar that can be used with a soft top without being a dangerous jungle gym??
