I asked this question on the main review, but is it possible Jacob, to have a squint at the rear suspension on your AWD CX-3 long-termer?

Australian reviews say it's not the dreaded torsion-beam, but a deDion tube with separate longitudinal and lateral links for each rear wheel.  Not surprising because the torsion beam would get in the way of the driveshaft, and I've never heard of a torsion beam with a driven rear axle. They also say the AWD version rides and handles better.

Enquiring minds need to know.

I agree.  Can't have a torsion beam with a rear axle.

Considering Mazda is a Japanese company, right hand drive would be normal.  At the Edmonton motor show, they brought a CX-3, but it was right hand drive.  The confusion on peoples faces was hilarious.
i know that, but surely a RHD version exists for pics to be taken of?

The dealership knew nothing of that "dealer-installed" arm rest, either, by the way, JY.

i'll check

Mazda Canada estimates it'll be arriving Aug/Sept:

"The armrest is indeed coming, but the development of this accessory was led by the fine folks at Mazda USA, who are not launching the CX-3 until Aug/Sept timeframe, which is when the armrest will become available."

Interesting that it was launched earlier in Canada.

On a related not, Honda sold 7500 HR-Vs in the U.S. last month – and it only went on sale mid-month so that is the number sold in two weeks. This segment is crazy hot right now.

Subaru seems to be ahead of the curve yet again!!

Yeah, this segment is going to explode as the cars appeal big time to both young and old people.

went and looked at it at the dealership today.

sat in it.  didn't drive it.

little taller than rabbit, interior space is quite very small.

sunroof is a joke.

interior quality is OK for the price.
the seat is comfy.

seat set at my driving position, there isn't much room in the rear seat.  and headroom is appalling at the rear seat.
I just came back home after.

I'd still go for the Crosstrek - oodles of ground clearance and awesome AWD.  But, the Mazda will move off the floor and it's a great product for them to have.

I don't understand why Mazda can't put panoramic sunroofs into its CUVs.

Half-assed engineering.

Honda also doesn't do pana roofs I believe. Even in the Acura lineup... Maybe the MDX has one not sure.

Actually it seems like pana roof is just not a Japanese thing as I'm pretty sure the Lexus IS / GS and Infiniti Q50 also don't have them iirc.

Subaru was one of the only non-Yuros to do a huge sunroof.  They had two sunroofs on the old OBW and a giant single unit on the Forester.

Mazda gave us the Miata and said "all the sunroof you want!!"

interesting aqua...

how much taller than your rabbit, would you estimate roughly?

I like sitting higher up and driving dynamics but looks like this one's missing space.

Then they took it away from the Outback. Dumb move IMO.

I saw this at the dealership a couple of weeks ago. A few things jumped out at me:

.1) Looks very nice overall at per the reviews. Better than the 3 IMO
.2) It's a LOT smaller than the CX-5
.3) The black plastic around the wheel arches is too thick and really looks "tacked on" compared to the more integrated design on the CX-5
.4) 16" wheels look terrible - 17" should gave been the base size

The Honda CR-V and HR-V are offered with a panoramic moonroof in Europe. This is pretty much required to be optional in order to be competitive in the European market.

Was invited for a 'private' viewing for one of these this weekend and since the wife initially liked the look of the CX-3 from the photos we spent a lazy afternoon doing just that. Some lasting impressions:

1. It looks really odd in person. Both the wife and I had the same feeling. The overall shape with the large tires just seemed off to us. It is also very small in comparison to the say the CX-5 or Mazda 5.
2. We test drove a fully loaded GT model. First looks in the interior show an upscale vehicle. A lot of nice touches with the leather. It is a lot roomier on the inside than you would first think. (I am 6'1") The rear is a little tight but comparable or better than my Mazda 3. Ditto to the storage space. Access for a child's car seat seems better than my Mazda 3.
3. Like the majority of Mazdas, it really is a hoot to drive. And like many smaller cars, the small size seemed to encourage spirited driving. The power seemed adequate and the engine/automatic felt well meshed. I didn't recall any hunting for gears or waiting etc. The sales lady even suggested a short section of gravel road to try!

Even if we could get past the looks, (we couldn't) for our needs and wants, ie a family, this car is simply not practical. However, we were definitely impressed with the luxurious interior and fun to drive factor. As I recall the fully loaded model was 30k so not cheap either. Though it is a very well put together little car, I am curious who the intended market is.
