Maybe technically possible but the conversion process is likely to be inefficient. I'd love to see the EROI (energy return on energy investment) numbers. Still, the energy density of the end product makes it a goal to be pursued.
1 litre of gas, which this appears to be, has an energy content of around 10kW hours and it is doubtful electric batter technology will approach this in any of our great, great grandchildrens' lifetimes. Then there is the efficiency of the ICE motor which will use the fuel. Unlikely to get much above 40% whereas electric motor systems are probably 90% + now.
Still a pretty brilliant advance for Audi and their partners.
