This is "badge engineering" done right....emphasis on the engineering and not the badge!

Completely agree.  You can have the 290hp AWD manual in a box with a hatch or you can have the fancy Audi sedan - but all versions are wicked - no dilution.

I did not use launch control once in 5 years with the GTI. I tried it on the test drive car (which was not the one I bought).  By the time the buttons were pressed and the transmission put into sport one could be 100 yards up the road already.

If you had this car you would be using launch control all the time.  I guarantee it.  Otherwise one might as well buy a GTI.  Which you already did.

Nope. I had it on my GTI and didn't even bother testing it. I honestly don't care about how fast I can launch the car of the line....Maybe if I was 18 years old again I'd be using it until I broke something. Now canyon carving and twisty back roads....YES!

I only used launch control on my STi to embarrass a-holes who pulled up beside me at light with their cars they thought would teach me a lesson.  A stage 1 Golf R will be great bait for them....yes, I'm still 18  :)

That is what I was thinking with my previous posts - how realistic is it to use launch control on a regular basis, pushing buttons, holding this and holding that.....by that time the light has turned green.

Approach every traffic light like its going to be a drag race and it become routine  ;D

Wait - your STI had launch control?  Or is that what you called your clutch.... ;D

I had it programed in with tune....it sounded awesome  :)

Common Now !   Paying $54,845 for a car like this when a V8 Mustang can give you better performance for half the price;  that's like accepting a $5.48 hamburger when you know you can get a larger Steak dinner next door for only $3.00 instead.   No sane man would go that route, not unless you really love hamburgers more than steak.  Get Real.

Oh, nice.  No V-8 'Stang is $27K, except in your deluded dream land.

Don't go way mad, just go away.

just to chime in... nice car. do wish the hatch/wagon was the body form though... I find the s/a4 not that big so this just seems kind of an odd position... the hatch really set it apart from it's stablemates... but I guess they are just going to let vw have that look/functionality. I just don't understand a brand that doesn't have a huge number of models have a few that are so close to each other.

anyway, still would take one in a heartbeat. the mustang comment... no point in saying anything there.

the q5 stuff earlier... I was talking to a friend of mine at an audi store and he said they are losing tonnes of customers to the macan... they all seem to look at it as <5000 more for a Porsche? sure audi is now a brand to be proud of at the golf club, but not as proud as a Porsche... i'm not sure on the actual pricing, but that's what he told me... and their owner has both brands, so he probably doesn't want them to try and sway the customer otherwise...

anyway... nice car. not what I would buy, but I wouldn't be buying any of these new small performance sedans... just not practical enough for me to have the four doors... if i'm sacrificing space and all that, just give me a coupe.
i used to be addicted to soap, but i'm clean now

Will Porsche going further down market and inherit the MQB platform with a smaller SUV like the Q3???
