The S Tronic does a better job of delivering both a relaxed manner for commuting and a high-intensity tune for snaking roads and attacking clear on-ramps. In regular Drive, shifts come earlier and mostly unnoticed, and Sport mode holds the gears and cracks off shifts when you approach the limiter or on hard braking in anticipation of turn-in and corner exit. Paddle shifters are available for taking control, though the Sport mode leaves little to be desired and allows greater concentration on throttle, steering and braking inputs.
With so much bad talk about the DSG in the Golf R I found this interesting.QuoteThe S Tronic does a better job of delivering both a relaxed manner for commuting and a high-intensity tune for snaking roads and attacking clear on-ramps. I hope they will put a longitudinal version of this powertrain, with proper, i.e non-Haldex, Quattro in the next Q5. Then they could do away with the V6. AND one would not be tempted by the siren song of APR and no warranty!

It is 220-225 now and APR get it up to 265-270 which would be just enough. The SQ5 which currently has about 330 from the V6 for the same weight as the Q5 , if that had more power from the factory it would have to go way up as would the price to make it a sales proposition for dealers. So leave the SQ5 alone , add some power to the 2.0 and lose the regular V6 ( 270 bhp) If the Q5 range jumps up in price then one may as well go wild and buy a Macan. The reason for NOT buying a Macan for me would be the lack of dealers..I think that Oakville is the closest although in terms of driving minutes Pfaff in Newmarket might be closer.

Can't believe they detuned it so much (obviously to get people into the SQ5) I can't imagine it's there is that much structurally different between the 3.0'sQ5: 272 hpQ7: 280 hpS4: 333 hp (and S5)A6: 333 hp (and A7)A8: 333 hpNow that there is the SQ5, I would be curious to see what the sale split is on the Q5 between 2.0, 3.0 and TDI
No - there are cases of DSG gear slipping over in the Audi forums as well. Audi will be bringing a manual next year for the S3.The DSG is ideal if you plan on tracking your car and / or ripping down the dragstrip. For everything else, the manual is more engaging.

Very few people buy SQ5s possibly because of the price. The people who buy TDIs are those who do long trips while towing he said 'some' I bet that if Audi sold the 2.0 TDI that they sell in euroland they'd sell more. I would have bought a TDI if I drove more and longer, I did seriously consider a regular 3.0. My point was that an APR stage 1 2.0T is equivalent to a regular 3.0 FWIW the dipstick is extra on any of the offered engines.

The local VW dealer can detect a flash back to the normal ECU. Maybe some dealers are more lenient.

It's a shame Audi stuck us with a sedan and automatic only. The sportback is so much cooler.
Lucky for me I don't give two sh!ts about how fast my car lunches off the line. I've lost count the number of times an Echo has beat me to 60 feet when the light turns green unless I'm on my bike then all comers are slaughtered. Manual or DSG I think these are great cars and fun to drive.
