Most thing I like about this vehicle is the 4500lb towing capacity, with seating for 5, (4 comfortably).  But no other vehicle in this segment does that.

"Options: 3.6-litre Pentastar $1,595"

Thought it was a 3.2-liter engine for the Cherokee?

Kia Sorento with the 3.3L V6 offers 5,000lb towing capacity, plus it's more roomy and can be optioned with 3rd row seating.  Mind you I'd probably classify that vehicle in a class a touch higher than this Cherokee.  But for the same price you can get a Sorento.

With the Sorento to get the V6, you have to get the 3rd row.  And that's what I mean, not everyone wants a 3rd row.  And as per the KIA website, towing capacity is 3500 lbs.  The KIA looks and is more civilized, may offer a few features the Jeep Cherokee does not.  On the other hand, the Jeep covers a broader range of consumers.

I was refering to the 2016 Kia Sorento, which when paired with the 3.3L V6 has a towing capacity of 5,000lbs.  You are correct about the 3rd row seating being tied to the V6 package.  The Cherokee is definitely a segment smaller than the Sorento and for some they wouldn't want the extra size and space.  That being said, if you were looking at a SUV in the $35K range and wanted towing capacity the Sorento should be on your list.

$44k fully, fully loaded :o. Tow wise interesting though - we just traded our V6 Rav4 which we had bought for towing our old boat - nice to not have to get a much larger vehicle to get the tow rating

The trim has its purpose but is in no means the volume model.  I agree with James's issue with loaded testers.

The guy who parks beside me just traded in a Volvo S60 (circa 2006) for a Cherokee North with the V6.  Haven't seen him yet to ask if he likes it.

Lots of these ducklings on the road.  If Chryfi's fix for the autobox is successful, it'll be a great vehicle assuming its other reliability issues noted in the last comparo can be sorted out.

not a package we sell much of (think one at my store from launch to date)... nice though.

we tend to sell more of the limited trim loaded up with everything except the more capable 4x4 system... usually in the 42 range.

for what you get, it is impressive... i get a lot of customers who want to spend roughly 40 on a 4x4, v6 that can tow. they come in thinking grand cherokee, but they start at about 42... this thing parks itself, has lane departure warning (and correction), collision mitigation, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, back up cameras/sensors that include active braking, heated seats and steering, cooled seats, pano roof..... my god... just so much.

is it what everyone wants? yes.... yes it is. is it what everyone will actually spend money on?... hell no.

to get the 4x4, v6 with tow, and heated seats, wheel, remote start(cold weather group), and all the normal stuff in a sport, you are sitting at 30k.

you do get ugly wheels though... hate those things.

Not clear on what is wrong with the auto from a consumer perspective.  Drives well.

Go on a rural roadway (80km/h zone), cruise at 90km/h, then simulate some swerver driving slowly in front of you.  You have a short window to pass (dotted line).  Punch it and see what happens.

...with that being said, the extra power of the V6 helps to mitigate some of the issues, but the 4cyl + 9-speed was a nightmare, IMO, even in city driving.

Best looking Cherokee by far to my eyes.  The looks of them has grown on me - but the Trailhawk looks the best.

With eight-way power adjustable driver’s seat and tilt and telescope steering getting comfortable was a breeze and it stays comfortable as the leather seats are just the right ratio of firm to soft.
Good to hear - I wasn't a fan of the cloth seats, but I would imagine that the leather ones are nicer.  My back hurt after a shortish test drive with the cloth.

It's a reasonable price for what you get, I think, but it's more than I would spend on a 'ute.  Shame, since as others have said, I really really like the styling of the Trailhawk.  It's badas$ meets Clementine ;)

Are the seats actually different though? I'd assume it's just the outer material that's different but I could be wrong.

It would be nice to get the Trailhawk front fascia on the lesser Cherokees.  It shortens the beak somewhat, and pulls the proportions back in line. IMO ,YMMV.

They feel really different.  My friend bought a Premium with leather because the cloth wasn't comfortable.  But it could be perception I don't really know for sure.
