Triumphs all had mechanical pumps as well with the samr carbs. Biggest problem with that was getting them to start after sitting for awhile, it takes a lot of cranking for those tiny little pumps to fill the fuel bowls enough to feed the carbs. The MG fuel pumps, while failure prone, really helped the starting process, and are really simple to replace/rebuid. If it's not obvious, my preference is for the electric pumps.
