Definitely a great car, especially 5 years ago when it came out.  Unfortunetly, this has be surpassed by other offerings on the market.  I love the option of the manual which others don't even offer.  Personally I'd choose either the S3 (if I'm okay with a auto and want a sedan) or a Golf R (if I want the manual and like hatch backs).  I wonder what the next S4 will offer.  I know we'll never see a V8 back in this class of vehicle but hopefully they can add a few ponies to the stable in a turbo and/or super charged 6 cylinder.

It's a great all around sports sedan and was second on my shopping list. Unfortunately the big drawback vs the 335 I got, at least for me, was the age of this design. Apparently the B9 version is coming out next year. Having said that it still looks great.
I love it when a plan comes together.

Updated competition makes this a difficult proposition at 65k IMO. Great car, just off cycle and hasn't received much in the way of updates. If any.

As good as the current gen S4 is, it sure makes me excited to see what the next S4 will be like.

Agreed, and lets hope they still keep an MT6 as a option.

Yup. But unfortunately the European market S4 has already ditched the manual transmission and with the S3 being DSG only I'm skeptical that we'll see a next gen S4 with a stick.

Yeah I would only take an S4 in base trim, and as such, I think it's a helluva good price.  There's just something about the S4 that has always had me lusting over it...it's the je ne sais pas factor.

I love this car.  I hope Audi doesn't mess too much with the design for 2016.  To me, this is the best in class in design and the running gear is excellent, just as it is.  Not that I can afford one mind you, which is why I drive a lowly Passat.

I also highly doubt we'll see the manual in the next S4... this generation we lost the V8, the manual will be next, and it will be a sad day for row-your-own enthusiasts, because it isn't just a manual transmission, it is a GOOD manual transmission, great, even. I drove the TTS with a Euro-spec manual and it had a horribly light clutch and too light shifter feel, so even if they retain the manual i worry that its quality will drop off.

spy photos are already floating around, and it looks like it will simply be a larger A3, same type of headlights, overall shape, etc. possibly too subtle for an all-new design, but we shall see.

I spend over 30 minutes last year in an S4, test it for a friend, who valued my opinion on the car. I really liked it, precise and responsive, the engine felt powerful in its power band. Qualifies as a 4-door Sports Car in my view. My favor car out of the Audi lot, other than the R8s.

Not that 333 hp is underpowered, but the new Cadillac twin turbo has 20% more power from the same displacement. The bar has definitely been raised.

Test drove this car and really enjoyed it. The lack of new tech and fuel efficiency were the nails in the coffin. Achieved 8.6 L/100 KM with my 335i at a steady 135 kph! Very pleasantly surprised.

In straight hwy driving around 120km/h I could get high 7's L / 100 km in my old 335i.  I can't do that now in the WRX with half as many turbo's and 2/3 the displacement.  :)
