Looks great but $16k for an '86 Corolla?  These guys are on crack.

This seller in BC is a little more realistic.

Yeah that's not the desirable RWD manual Corolla from the 80's, that thing should at the very best be worth around $5K.

I would be afraid driving this on the highway...imagine getting into an accident in that thing today...like a bubble in an ocean
I love it when a plan comes together.

Something to warm the cockles of Ron's heart.  What's the official name of this colour, Ron?  It's beautiful.

Wow! Nice color for sure!

It's called "Cyprus Pearl".

And it's been a long, long time since I've seen an absolute base LS430!

Wheels were optional though!

These were badge engineered to be a Chevy Nova at one point.   Slowest car I think I ever drove.

Yep, my mom owned the Nova-version for while.

^^^So the last year of the Duster / Dart. What colour ?

When I first started working our employer had many vehicles in the fleet. Mostly Dodge B100 vans with those slant 6's .

Brown, I think!  :rofl2:  Just going by memory as I haven't seen the car for years.  Didn't ask him if he was changing the colour.  It's now at his buddie's place up the road from him who has a huge shop with lift, paint booth, and just about everything required for a full resto.  These guys live way out in the boonies and I don't get out there very often but next time I do I'll snap some picks.  Last time I was at that garage the owner was on the final stages of restomodding an old Ford pickup and it looked amazing.  Power was a supercharged Coyotee V8 I believe.  Thought I had a pic of that but can't find it now.  Guy is a semi-retired machinist and he has a really impressive setup.  Looks a bit like Bad Chad's place.   ;D

I find myself needing a sub-$1000 French beater for reasons all my own.
But the K-Jetronic scares me for some reason. And the 2000 km distance doesn't help things.

Be useful if you could get parts for that at Stellantis dealers, guessing you'd just get a blank look.

Wonder who thought having such an oddball car in Yellowknife of all places was a good idea?

My old Audis both have K-Jetronic. I’ve rebuilt the fuel distributor in one of them. They look and are complicated, but I’ve had decent luck with mine. Don’t let fear and common sense hold you back from that French beauty!

Getting hard to find people who remember K-jetronic.  Many parts are NLA and you have to search for used.  Old O-rings have shrunk and leak air or worse.

The location is problematic. I'd worry they'd ask for a deposit and they'd be no car. But old Peugeot would be odd scam bait.

Seller sounds like a stand up guy but 2000 km is a bit of a buzz kill.
Need to look for another Great Beater Challenge car.

Getting tough to make the budget work this year. Not much for around $700
