I never really understood why the LX was more desirable than a GT.  The Fox body Mustangs are my wife's favorite generation.

They were lighter & therefore quicker, especially the notchback vs the hatchback.

And, they looked better without the GT's superfluous body panels.

My wife hates them. It was fine in '89 - now though?  Nope.  Nostalgia has me sometimes thinking I'd like another...but then I realize what garbage they really were.  And for $61,000? (so far)  WTF!  No thanks!  You can buy a GT350 or a 2020 5.0 ragtop....or a Z06...or so many other cars which are so much faster and better looking and the list goes on and on.

That's why I bought an LX hatch.  Wasn't fond of the GT looks then, or now.  Didn't much like the looks of the notch either.  IIRC, you couldn't get the GT seats in the notch where you could in the LX, so another reason not to buy the notch. (IIRC - I might be wrong)

Debatable.  I only had cat delete H-pipe and underdrive pulleys, and I never lost to another Mustang (I'd probably still be in jail if street racing was as high a crime as it is now...or if I'd have ever been caught - funny my 5.0 owning son is not impressed by my old-timey stories of the past: you were an idiot! Gee...thanks...I might have to send you back!), almost lost to an RX7 (I know! WuT!  :o That thing was Fast!) and barely got beat by a Vette.  The only Mustang that beat me was an earlier 85-86 model, but you could hear that thing had a cam in it and wasn't stock.

That's not stock, is it?

The notchback was about 65 lbs lighter than the hatchback; enough to make a difference in acceleration.

No...but it's not like it gave it a huge power jump either.  Probably not as much as "advertised" - with the K&N filter I guess I was closer to 300 or more HP with those 3 mods.  ;D  If only I'd have put some stickers on the car!

I was also at most 145 lbs so yeah, if a guy in a notch showed up and was 200+ - I couldn't lose could I?  ;)

I do recall taking a guy for a ride in it and he was a good 300..and damn...it was like dragging an anchor through mud.  As bad as pulling the camper with the truck, and then unhooking it and going for a good boot.  He was a large dude.

Nostalgia is a helluva drug.

But if you're a gen Xer who always wanted one (or had one), and now has a pile of money, and you've already got other cars... Why not?

That black LX notch is exactly like my father in laws car. He hardly ever drives it, believe it has around 110,000k total. It’s a neat car to drive, very small and nimble feeling from what I remember. I certainly wouldn’t give a decent pile of cash for it, to me it’s a $7500 car tops.

Out of curiosity...just HOW bad would this be?  If there's a way (there is)...manual swap it, put a better exhaust on it...and let it sing...

Very nice. Harry Metcalfe has an older Jag coupe with a V12 and manual. Really cool car.

Getting pricey!  The radio station I worked for gave away one and I got to drive it before the winner took possession.  What a blast I had!

1,900-Mile 1990 Ford Mustang LX 5.0 Notchback 5-Speed

DJ Bubba?

When I bought my first new car in 1995 I studied the LX on paper. A lot. I was coming out of my prized 1986 Celica and maturing up to a 4-door compact in prevision of the wedding and future kiddos. Ended up with a manual Civic, but the call of the late Fox LX 5.0 hatch was strong... In retrospect, I made the right choice and given how I drove that Civic the 'Stang would have gotten me into trouble  :rofl2:

I think that's pretty neat...even if it is a bit hard on the eyes.

Yeah, not exactly a beautiful car but it's certainly interesting.

Looks to be an Offenhauser cast aluminum cover.  $516 is one price I saw.

^^ I like the idea of turboing the Slant 6. Everyone else removes them and throws in some interation of  a V8. Vice Grip is doing a LS 318 in an old Duster  presently. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ehGHFJUcOB0 Part Mopar part GM.

I have a soft spot for the Slant 6,as my Dad had 3 of them in various cars in the 60's and 70's. Learned to drive on a 76 Volare.

Perfect customer loaner for @TheHire?

Located in Brampton, No Reserve, looks fairly clean but has a bunch of codes lit up and a few mechanical needs. Probably a breeze for his shop!
