Yeah, a god buddy of mine has one of those MB powered Grand Cherokee's.....it's got over 400K on it and it's mostly original. He's hard on it too, pulls a big dump trailer. I drove it awhile back and it still drove great, I was shocked. His does leak oil pretty bad, apparently it's some oil cooler that's buried deep inside and required an unholy amount of time to replace, it's also got something weird going on with the battery light - it's always on but the system charges fine and the battery doesn't die.

I thought all those Jeep diesels were that Italian engine, didn't know it was the MB engine.

90% of people trade these in rather than fix the oil cooler. It’s 12 hrs plus parts.

Yeah, he's been driving it with a pretty decent leak for a couple years at least. In all honesty, it's not bad...couple loonie sized drops on the driveway every night. No biggie, keep a pan under it and check the oil weekly. Guy lives on a farm, so a few oil drops are not a problem, and it makes for cheap transportation.

I'm back on BaT this week with a double-double:

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1970-tvr-vixen-3/

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1974-tvr-2500m-6-2/

Both auctions finished with RNM, despite full technical info and rare specimens  :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

I'm getting a feeling Americas can't fathom a border. And not having titles.

Anybody wants a kick-ass TVR? The green one has 280 hp at the wheels, the purple 250.

1) Or the sellers think their cars are worth more than they really are hence RNM.

2) Many Americans think old English cars are turds and would rather spend their money on something else

I've mentioned the border thing here many times...And while technically, importing a car older than 25 years into the US is 'easy' it's still a pain in the butt, especially if it's not something you do regularly. As Canadians, we're usually pretty familiar with at least crossing the border, and maybe bringing stuff back across. That's a foreign concept to many Americans, many of whom have never crossed into Canada, let alone imported anything from there. For the majority of American collectors, it would either need to be real deal, or an extremely rare car, to justify even considering importing. That's just how it is.

Now, importing a car <25 years old into the US is actually a royal PITA. I am going through it now for my junkers and it's just unnecessarily complicated. Much easier to import from the US into Canada.

The seller was me, representing a local collector. The reserves are set by BaT according to previous sales, and they know the value of a car pretty well. A similar 2500M with a 302 Ford sold for $42k in June! I’m getting a feeling we’ll have to offer “free shipping “ to move the cars. I have access to many interesting cars for resale, from 4 to 6 figures, and it would be a fun side gig IF I was on the U.S. side of the border. Invested a lot of time in those two and a bit sour… BaT should put up a “Canada “ page as the same questions pop up at every Canuck listing.

There are some Canadian-centric auction sites I think but obviously they do not give you the exposure that BaT does. In theory BaT could partner with someone who could handle the import process, with fees shown right on the auction page.

It would be great for us if they partnered with someone solid like, say, TFX, and offer "BaT Shipping & Customs" on Canadian listings. I have a 17,000 miles Testarossa to list - I could offer "free shipping" and build a San Diego delivery in the reserve...

... unless @TheHire wants it  ;D

It's this car, but with 2,000 extra miles now: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1990-ferrari-testarossa-21/

So...would a 6' 250 (cough, +) pounder fit in the car?  Because I know a guy with a bat-worthy RNM (assumption at this point, of course) Fusion Sport who'd happily trade straight across for the purple one.  I mean...c'mon, he needs an AWD there in QC and I need a car I can park in the garage that only gets driven on nice days in the 3 seasons you'd drive a car like that.  Plus guaranteed mine will run without issue for decades where the same cannot be said of some old purple FBC.  AmIright?

This is so great!!

 :hurl:
LOL

What...what's not to like?  The wide body kits is bangin' in its elegance and simplicity!  3M tape and probably minimal drilling required.  The NACA ducts on that hoppin' hood scoop and the 240Z style vents in the fenders?  Way cool.  And that spoiler...I mean damn!  Think of the down force in high speed corners!  I bet that thing could almost do one of those tunnel loop-de-loops!  The Trans Am gold lace wheels (which can be argued actually look pretty good on a Vette)...the peanut butter interior with real fake wood AND a CELL PHONE BUILT IN!!  I mean shi#! That thing probably won't drop calls...if it could even take calls at all.  Even the mirrors are more aero than factory and have that rich mans silvery-beige thing going on.  It would appear someone dropped a LOT of coin (at JC Whittney) on that car...they were high AF but they spent a shitton for sure.

Actually these things are quite roomy, but getting in and out is not elegant 😂 I was contacted through another forum for this car - fingers crossed!
