Had one too. A 79 I believe. Had the “HondaMatic” transmission. Remember it being really reliable, but really rusty!

Rust was the killer of my '82 Civic 3-door.  239,000 km, mechanically sound, but the body was disappearing.  Sold it for parts.

Too bad the rust is notorious to this gen of Civic.

I have almost that exact car right now. The stupid white diamond pearl looks great, but good luck trying to touch it up! GM will sell you a two part touch up, the white base, and the pearlized clear. It doesn’t work…

That DTS in the listing is White Lightning, which is a pearl with more yellow/gold in it. Diamond White Pearl is whiter, but also a pearl. Our Escalade is the Diamond White Pearl, and it's probably the toughest factory paint I've ever encountered, really tough stuff. It is 3 stages though; base color, pearl, and clear. Rev - wondering if you're missing the final clear in your 2-stage process and if that would help.

I still have the 2 stage touch up kit for my long time gone 2012 Volt "White Diamond Tricoat" borrowed by Chevrolet from Cadillac IIRC...
Gone but not forgotten in chronological order: 2019 Volt, 2013 Volt, 2014 Spark EV, 2012 Volt and many others before...

It's probably the same as what we had for our Santa Fe pearl white touchup paint, one end is the white, the other is the pearlized clear.  So while the paint is 3 stages as you say, the touch up combines the pearl and clear into one.  It too never did the best job in matching.

BWII, I'm guessing you're not AndyATL.  You missed out!

Sold for $9,650
https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1988-ford-thunderbird-16/

Gasp...!!!  Totally missed this...I...I love it.  I know it's a shi# car, but I still love it.  Be better with a Coyote swap. And a bunch of angle welded to the floor pans.  Hell the entire underside (and interior) of a 2015 and up Mustang would do the car a lot of good.  Still looks good on the outside.

I thought putting a diesel in the Liberty was a good idea. But, the sales numbers said I was wrong.

Outside of the VW TDI's and heavy duty pickups, were there any real successful diesel vehicles in the last 20 years?

Except that the Italian diesel in that thing is boat anchor...it was a good idea, but like Chrysler is infamous for, poor execution.
Lighten up Francis.....

When BMW and Mercedes introduced their diesel models back around 2010 they had really high take rates particularly in the SUVs. For Mercedes it was nearly 75% (ML, GL, GLK).

I had a diesel Grand Cherokee, really liked it. Tons of power and great on fuel. Cousin was the sprinter mechanic for a Benz dealership for many years so I always had a knowledgeable mechanic at my disposal. Never had any experience with the liberty diesel, but the folks had a friend who dragged one behind their motorhome for many years, they always would rave about mileage.

Said cousin of mine has his modded. Larger turbo, injectors, tune. He’s raced SRT8 Cherokee’s and it’s a dead even race. He still gets great fuel economy!
