Looking around to see what my Odyssey's worth at the moment.

This is the only 2011-2013 in the country with less km's than mine (I'm around 92,000 km): https://www.kijijiautos.ca/fr/voitures/honda/odyssey/occasion/#vip=29036169

Won't try this guy's price though...

I should ask $20k for my 2013 Corolla with 65,000 km.

If you do, it's only $6k + tax for a brand new LE...

Getting $13k to $14k is realistic.

Good news story.  Chris is a friend of mine, haven't seen him in years, but he's doing good car things.
Bubba will appreciate the car.

Wow. I saw that car last week parked in a driveway in that general area. It stood out right away as a good restoration. Had no idea there was a story behind it.

An interesting one as that is not a commonly seen body style.

92K? Why are you looking for another vehicle? You barely used that one.

Selling before our climate ruins everything. Down south, you can keep cars forever. I feel we're at the right nexus of condition, market value and depreciation. Retail right now is more than 50% of purchase price, not bad for 11 years!

Craziness for a minivan.

Reminds me of when my dad was used car shopping in the late '90s when the minivan craze was in full swing. He was replacing an old base Caravan and was willing to get another one, but six year old ones were $12-15k. Instead he got a three year old Taurus wagon for under $10k.

The whole affordable minivan market is disappearing.  Cheap  new Grand caravan used to be mid $20s.  Now they are " fancy vehicles"  all of them are starting at almost $50k.   I guess the Kia Carnival starts around $40k.

a new mazda 5 model would be nice...

Hmmm, makes me wonder what the cheapest 3 row vehicle is right now?  As you said, you used to be able to get a Caravan for $20K new (not that long ago even), the Mazda 5 was in the 20's, Kia Rondo also, plus the Dodge Journey.  Looks like it's the VW Atlas and maybe the Mitsubishi Outlander as the two cheapest 3 row vehicles you can buy, with the Kia Carnival being the cheapest minivan.

The Tiguan can be had with a third row for just over $40k.

:censor:, you're right, I think I looked at the base model Tiguan and thought that was the base Atlas.  Jesus, there really isn't much under $40K with a usable 3rd row.

Was chatting with a guy the other day...large family by today's standards, he was lamenting how expensive it is to replace their older Caravan.  Said he thought about a 4-5 year old Odyssey or Sienna, but they are still above his budget.  At this point, he figures since their 10-year old van isn't leaving them stranded ("the devil you know"), they're gonna stick with it a few more years.  He's also mildly paranoid about it getting totaled and having no reasonable/reliable options to replace it.
