I would have expected that to be a $25k car these days.

The miles are low and it is overpriced. As I mentioned in another thread I have a relative who dabbles in Mercedes CLS. His summer car is a 55 AMG and the winter is a regular CLS 500. The AMG was $18k and the 500 was around $12k. Both have been rock solid for over a year. FGC+sedan+thirsty V8+ RWD is sales poison these days.  ;D

The 55 actually out torques the later engines (469 HP and 516 ft.lbs) is not too slouchy. It was the last of the "great Kompressor engines) and makes more torque than the 63 AMGs. The 500 engine is basically just the N/A version. rock solid.

I just assumed with the new C AMG being 4 cylinder and the previous being turbo charged, that this older NA V8 is on the upward trend.

What would a similar year, mileage M3 cost nowadays?

Browsing for beaters for a friend. Found this:

Not bad. Pre-inflation this would've been a $5k car.

I'm not a fan of the CLS body style & they do tend to run a bit cheaper price wise. Does the CLS have the air ride? I can't remember now?

I keep an eye on E55's, CL55's & the CLK55. There was a nice CL-500 for sale locally, but I was too busy at the time to inquire about it. The CLK55 has the same engine as my SLK, the M113 N/A motor which is quite reliable. The E55 & CL55's have the same engine with a supercharger, but then have the air ride which is problematic. Would be nice to find one that someone has converted over to non air ride suspension.

The one I posted was neat because it's a Japanese import that we didn't have here, though the 6.3 isn't that great reliability wise :banghead:

Probably $35k or so.

You came to the wrong place.

How did I miss this?  Seems like a great idea, you do love a convertible, it has a great sounding V8.  Don't see this depreciating too much.  It might be a bit more comfy than your Boxster that you had.  Only downside is FGC and we all know how much you love German engineering.

This is a local cream puff that Firm would like for obvious reasons.  Whole lot of car for not a lot of money.

That's awesome. How are east coast cars for corrosion ? Better than Ontario?

Good looking car, nice low kms too! I dig the Diamond White (pearl) color. Someone loved it too as they've installed that upright hood badge (yuk) and the Cadillac plate on the front. Base model with no navi screen, sunroof or massage seats. Does have the cooled seats though.

Little surprised, but it's got a fair bit of rust in the 'typical' DTS spot:

That rust, on the nearly impossible to blend Diamond White, would be enough to keep me away from it.

I can tell you that the stats suggest cars have the shortest lifespan on the East Coast, even vs Ontario and Quebec. I imagine that's due to the fact that they rust out first, but maybe there's some other factors at play - such as the makes/models that are most popular out there. iunno.

For this money though?  That's almost beater money (in 2022/23).

Drive it until there's nothing left.
