^ That's interesting.   I wonder if there was anything other than German makes sold in Argentina back in the 70s?  Japanese perhaps?

Renault, Peugeot, and FIAT were popular in the '70s and '80s.  VW didn't enter the market until 1980, when they bought Chrysler Argentina and kept building the local version of the Hillman Avenger, the Dodge 1500, as the VW 1500 until the early '90s, I believe.  The Renault 12 and Peugeot 504 were popular as taxis.

During the '70s Ford built the Fairlane, Taunus (German equivalent of the Cortina), and Falcon.  The Falcon, which got many, many facelifts, was built until 1991, and was notorious as being the car of the secret police during the days of the military regime.  Dark green Falcons were the scariest cars in the country.

Cool test rig

That poor R107  :'(

Did you hear the part about "rusted right up to the doorhandles"?
The front of the car looked pretty good.

Just did a quick glimpse with no sound... Of course many of these things can be found in pretty bad shape. A Toronado / Eldorado might have been simpler ?

Anyone looking to kill themselves?.....

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1985-honda-atc-200s-2/

This is the one if you want to kill yourself.

Was powered by roughly the same 250cc 2 stroke as found in Honda's motocross bikes.

My neighbor's kid across the street has one.  Not a kid anymore I suppose at 28 but he still lives at home.  ;D I owned a Big Red when I was 15/16.

We had a big red too.   Flipped that thing couple times.

Everybody in NB had a Big Red, so did we.   Probably bought it at the same shop as you.
I flipped it a few times, always in winter

But not nearly as cool  :fiver:

A nice surprise seeing a 300M on Bat, as I don't recall seeing one before.  Will it fetch $10k?

A 90's era Oldsmobile 98 recently fetched somewhere around $20K on one of these sites, wouldn't surprise me one bit if this 300 gets mid-teens.

You know way more than I do about pricing, so I hope you're right.  The auction is on my Watch List.

2018 M240i, 6 speed manual, premium essential, 39kms, $55k.  :o ::)

https://www.performance-bmw.com/vehicles/2018/bmw/2-series/st.-catharines/on/53671866/?sale_class=used

MSRP in 2018 was $47.3k, plus premium essential package (im guessing around $2500).

If I remember correctly when that came out one of their advertising claims was that it was the most fuel efficient V8 on the market.  I always thought it was a good looking vehicle.  I assume it was FWD.

No V8 in those Chrysler LS cars, you might be thinking Oldsmobile Aurora, it had a V8 & was also FWD. The LS cars top dog motor was the 3.5 V6. I worked at the assembly plant building these, was on the door assembly line & engine installation line.

That must be what I'm misremembering.  Still the 300m was a good looking vehicle for it's day.

I spotted a minty-looking and well-optioned 2016 228i Xdrive auto for $21k, has around 100,000 km - seems reasonnable.

Also spotted a minty 128i for less than $10k - how's life with yours?

It's on bmw.ca for "only" $52,964. Premium essential was $2950. So that price is basically what it was new with fees. https://www.bmw.ca/en/ssl/PreOwnedSearch.html#sn=WBA2J5C55JVB28099&rid=6144

Slim pickings if you want a manual 2-series. The only other one on bmw.ca is a '17 M240i with 90k on it for $39,900, identically equipped but Estoril blue over red leather.
