This is cool. I wasn't aware of the SW8 model.

Quote
Solid one of the last Peugeots to be sold in U.S. Very rare short roof rack with sunroof. Despite collector doubts, the sunroof appears to be OEM. Roof penetration is not butcher job. Roof is formed with drains and does not leak. There is no other example of the roof configuration of this car. Plenty of long racks. Some short racks, but no sunroofs, unless after market. This car had a sticker from Nantucket Island when acquired. The tinting to preserve the interior required that it be removed. The previous owner indicated that this car was purchased originally by the Rothchilds and used as a gopher on Nantucket Island and subsequently sold to California owner. Since it is possible that Rothchilds had financial interest in PSA, it is probable that they could get this car with the sun roof and short rack on a special order? While not perfect, it was well cared for, and rust free and mechanically sound. It has an excellent low mileage engine with very low mileage new Peugeot head, no longer available, period. Am experienced with these cars, and am happy to answer questions from serious buyers. Peugeot has long history building 8 passenger wagons, very rare cars. Have some extra parts that will be included with the car, and will include Peugeot Lion in pictures. Older 8 passenger wagon shown for reference. Current replacement odo shows about 133K. Also pictures are a few years back and car had first repaint two years ago. Picture in carport is current.

So much want to this:

Too bad it's that horribly dull pewter colour that was offered on I think literally every Chevrolet at that time. Even Corvettes.

That's Peak Tahoe IMO. Beautiful to see one that well preserved.

Edit: only way this could be improved was if it was 03+ with the better seats, and had some more options (heated/memory seats, steering wheel controls, etc).

“Pewter” is way too fancy for that.  Let’s just call it “Nicotine Stain Beige.”   ;D

That's more than I paid for the Tundra. Insane.

The reserve is dumb, seller should've let that thing go for the $33K USD...not sure how/where he figures he's going to get more. The price doesn't surprise me though; it's still significantly less than a comparable brand new Tahoe, and for a certain subgroup (myself included) who care more about comfort and reliability than having the latest electronics on board, the old one is a better truck.  So you're getting a 'brand new' 2002 for ~half the cost of a brand new 2022...If you started using that 2002, it'd likely last longer and and cost way less to maintain over the next 2-300K kms.

I actually figured it would hit high 30’s. Maybe the seller did too. Still, 33k is a big chunk to spend on a 20 yr old SUV.

I'm surprised that BaT even allowed that high of a reserve.

Reliability I'll give you, but how are these more comfortable than newer ones?

They just are. Seats are way better (much softer) and ride quality, especially with as much sidewall as a Tahoe on 17"s like the BAT example has.

We've talked about it in here before, but for some reason, manufactures sometime in the mid-late 2000's decided that all seats should be hard and bolstered. Maybe some ergonomics thing, but as a result, modern automotive seats are never as comfy as stuff from the pillowy 90's and early 00's examples.

Soft seats are generally way worse for your body than firmer ones. They tend to initially "feel" comfortable but don't provide proper body support.

Yeah, that's the thinking. There's probably some truth to it, but having driven new cars nearly every week for the last 8 years, I can tell you that I am absolutely not as comfortable in any of those seats (with maybe a small handful of exceptions) as I am in a 20 year old GM truck....even my Sonoma has great seats. My parents 95 STS, you just melt into the seats, it's awesome. Or a 90's Grand Cherokee with the pillow top seats, amazing.

I am not the only one that feels this way, old car groups are filled with people who long for the days of properly comfortable automotive seating.

Like the seats in the 1983 Cadillac Fleetwood I had. More like grandma’s chesterfield than automotive seats. Very comfy. Maybe too comfy and people would fall asleep while driving lol.

Hoovie is a big proponent of those old comfy seats as well... and sidewall in the tires. He's covered it off many times in his videos.

I don't really know much about this vehicle but it is appealing, especially with the colour choices.  When I think about buying a "classic" car I always gravitate to GT or cruisers.  I find if you want performance it's pretty hard to beat modern vehicles.

4 hours to go and still only a tick over $10K.

Finished at $15k, seems pretty reasonable to me, that would be like what $25k CAD once you factor in fees, taxes, duties, and exchange rate.  Still would be an epic 90’s cruiser.
