Looks like  a good conversion. The thing I like about it is that you can't tell it is a V8 until you hear it.

I actually think that would be a great place to put your nest egg for retirement before the economy goes to poop.  It'll likely only go up in value, as long as you don't drive it and wreck it of course.

A real blast from my out-of-college years is on display on Bat this week.

After getting my first real job, I went pragmatic, sold my Celica and bought a new '95 Civic 4-door. Fun car, but these three tempted me out of the Celica more than a few times. The SE-R was not offered in Canada, would have been purchased instead of the Civic if sold up here since it's stil a boxy 2-door sedan. In black. MX-3 V6 was a hoot, but a tiny 2+2 hoot. Still, had the brochure, visited the dealerships a few times... And CR-X is a two-seat legend for us Gen-X'ers... But 2-seat. And by the time I had the job, it was replaced by the Del Sol. GTI? Waaayyy too expensive to buy and insure back then.

Edit: the NX2000 was sold here, had the SE-R's bits, but in 1995 it was a full 5k$ more expensive than the Civic. 8k$ in today's dollars.

^I almost bought a brand new MX-3 in 1995, ended up getting a demo 1994 MX-6 (with 8000km on the clock) instead for less money, sold that in 2008! Longest serving car in the Gurgie fleet to date.

The seller has a nice driving video for the MX-3. The little 6 sounds great!

I had a 94 626 - similar parts.. also lasted til 2008. Did your distributor, ($$$) die at some point?

No, distributor never died on it that I remember. It did go thru a few sets of brakes over the years and the paint ended up cracking while under warranty so I got the car repainted under warranty. I ended up selling it to a young guy that really wanted it for $2k, it had around 215,000km on it & the clutch was starting to go on it, and the body was rotting on the bottom of the doors.

If only I needed a winter beater, this would be a pretty good option.

I mean it has a V8!

That's exactly like what I was looking for last year as my 'leave behind' / winter beater.  Any decently-priced ones in Ontario were usually snatched up before I could even see them.  The only ones that lasted more than a day or so were usually very badly rotted underneath.    I've had good luck with buying cars from NB, too.   ;D

When the lease is done on the Jetta in a year and a half, I will be on the hunt again for another old 4Runner....  or use some of TurboBob's "Man Maths" to justify a new Bronco, haha

Kinda odd how a Toyota dealer uses a 16 year old, 262 km V8 SUV as their service loaner.  ???

great way to save money - loaner fleets do nothing but lose lots of money for dealerships
If driving an Alfa does not restore vitality to your soul, then just pass the hospital and park at the morgue to save everyone time.

Now drives a Jaaaaaaag...and thus will not pay for anything during an outing...but it is OK, because....I drive a Jaaaaaag.

Well they might have different service loaners depending on what a person has in for service.  Maybe if you have a highlander or 4runner they use this, but if it's a car they have a Corolla/Camry for those folks.

I would argue that it is a great advert for Toyota reliability.  Also, this dealer located in the middle of the farm belt so not like they would have a lot of suit and tie folks bringing vehicles in for repair.

I believe this is the local Ford dealers loaner (or you might get another used car on the lot).
https://www.rhinelandcar.com/pre-owned/ford/f-150/2000-gray-xl-10007189.html

It's been for sale for years now...kinda surprised no one's bought it now what with Covid pricing.

I like that Forerunner...I'd take it with those k's too...aint high at all really.  At least to someone who's put almost 400k on a couple of cars.  LOTS of life left there.  Too bad it's so far away...
