They were popular back in the day. Then they suddenly all disappeared. Most led hard lives I think.
Yes a lot of those 90's turbo cars led hard lives.

A guy I know has a ridiculously nice Talon that last I heard was pushing over 600hp.   Of course nothing is stock on it.

Hope I see it at the track this year.

If he autocrossed it about 10  or so years ago, I know him too, can't remember his name though....horrible with names.

A friends dad had the exact Talon (white wheels. And all) and I always remember riding in that car. His Dad was a very conservative driver and never got into the boost. Drove like a 85 yr old grandma. We “borrowed” it one night for a quick spin and I remember to this day how hard that car pulled. His dad actually kept that car right up until a few years back when the transmission started giving trouble, donated it to the kidney foundation. Wish I had the chance to buy it.

I really liked the next generation Talon better.  The one with the odd hump in the hood.  That's the one that I'd like.  They were cool little cars back in the day for sure and quick.

Agreed.

I believe Railton had one or two of them along the way....
Yup, I had the exact twin of that Kijiji unit I had it for 6 or 7 years. I had the 2nd Gen model for 8 years I think.
For $3500.00 somebody should jump all over that.
The 1st gen models started the hood bump. The 2nd Gen models carried it over.

To get more than 450hp needs big money in one of those, from what a former owner told me. He traded his for a C63 AMG.

I want that Daytona!

Here’s a great ad. Let’s only mention two things. It seats 8, and it has blue tint on the top of the windshield. Of all the options in what appears to be a fully loaded expedition, the blue tint is the only one worth mentioning. Wonder if that was a big reason they bought it to begin with?

Buddy of mine in Calgary JUST bought an Expedition Max with a 5.4.  Apparently it's got 486 000kms on it.  I think his intent is to do a bit of overlanding with it?  Just took it in for a lift and bigger tires.

Wow. 486k is impressive. I have plenty of hate for the 5.4 3V but I have seen some with big miles. The bottom ends are solid. If you keep up on the timing chains, guides, tensioners, cam phasers, oil pumps, roller rockers, plugs/coils, they do seem to run reliably for a long time.

I think if you do religious 6000km oil changes on them, they're fine.  They're just absurdly intolerant to stretched oil change intervals

Spark Plug/thread repair is a big thing too.

There was literally a guy in Ontario who worked full time doing those repairs.

Again, change spark plugs at the recommended intervals and you were probably okay.  Try to stretch the intervals, and big problems.

True. Poor quality oil filters also bothered the 5.4’s. Overall definitely not my favourite V8 but some folks got good service out of them.

Sister had an Expy with over 400k on it. Bought it new in 08. I can assure you she was not religious about any maintenance. It was a solid vehicle for them. It was the tranny that eventually gave the ghost.

I like these big Buicks.  Nice shade of green and the Magnum 500 wheels always look great.

Overland...in a Ford...and not just a regularly crappy one, but one with a 5.4...nope. There are Suburbans out there that are way better suited to being out in the middle of nowhere with no access to spark plug rethreading tools or cam phaser sensors. Crikey, I thought taking a Land/Range Rover overlanding was a bad idea, this is worse.
