I got to sell one like it years ago. The company I worked for bought a huge tandem/tandem foam truck from a surplus auction. Had the 12V92 Detroit Diesel (2 stroke around 800-1000 hp) and an Allison automatic. What a blast to drive but VERY slow, topped out at around 80 km/h if I recall, and took its sweet time getting there. Sold to a private airport in Kentucky. We had many other fire service vehicles through the years, ladder trucks, pumpers, support vehicles.

Was very close to this in spec.

Now even I am afraid of the unreliability of that thing. Pure nightmare, but cool in a very subtle kind of way. If you want a V8 sedan for cheap, there are much better options (Jag XF 5.0 being one).
If driving an Alfa does not restore vitality to your soul, then just pass the hospital and park at the morgue to save everyone time.

Now drives a Jaaaaaaag...and thus will not pay for anything during an outing...but it is OK, because....I drive a Jaaaaaag.

Here's a supercharged V8 sedan for you buddy at a more reasonable price.

No doubt it is leagues better, E55 is very cool...but twice as much cool? Can an E55 be found for $10k? Same motor as your Merc right, just with a blower?

Yeah, same motor as mine, supposedly stupid reliable engine & transmission combo. The active suspension can be finicky, but I've watch Hoovie fix his on YouTube with the Car Wizard, not crazy terrible.

Here's one for less & you can get Ron to check it out for you, lol!

LOL...  Kidding aside, he is pretty remarkable, given the breadth of ridiculous cars Tyler brings to him that he always manages to sort out.  Out of all the great that he does, there was one 'oops' moment (admittedly, could've been a very serious one), but he did everything right to correct it.

That looks really good.  Shame about the ugly C63 exhaust protruding out the rear, and if it meant shaving a grand or two from the price, I'd happily take the SL55 wheels he referenced instead of those over-done ones on the car.

Fair, I've only watched 4-5 of his videos. I find the mannerisms of some of these bloggers hard to watch for more than 5 mins. And they make what could be explained in 3 mins, a 19 min video.

I love watching samcrac try to fix stuff, he's such a positive guy.

What do you guys think of this unit?

https://www.autotrader.ca/a/toyota/4runner/woodbridge/ontario/5_50171633_20160614133119854/?showcpo=ShowCpo&ncse=no&orup=101_23_123&sprx=-2

Fob has got me looking at 4Runners again...

I'd wanna go thru the service records very closely to see what has been replaced and how long ago. At this point there's probably a few tired suspension components and how frequently have all the fluids been changed. Seems like the diff fluids and transfer case should be changed quite frequently if it's under heavy loads.

Have you driven one before? The seating position isn't the greatest and that 4.0 is slow revving dog of an engine, reliable as :censor:, but not much excitement. I test drove the V8 version back in the day & that really made a difference.

Shhhh....Don't give away the secret of how to become a famous youtube professional.  ;)

Another thing that bugs me is when they dumb down everything to make it sound harder. I watched a pro mtn biker do a trip across Iceland going on how about how hard it was to ride 8 hours/day and they couldn't ride their fat bikes through rivers as they would stop working. WTF? I'd get it if your target audience knew nothing but I'm thinking the majority of people watching this already do these things.

Thanks. I may have a look at it. Always loved the idea of having a 4Runner and this one at this price point might be something to put around with and possibly use as a vehicle for the kids. Now, this idea could be a symptom of WFH boredom :)

Crazy how much money these things go for.

I drove a previous gen V8 a few years back with 250k on it and it drove like a new truck. Would have been very tempting to buy but the tailgate was super rusty and I thought the guy wanted a bit too much for it.

I'd definitely want to get a PPI done before spending that much money on a truck with 300k on it but if it checks out it should still have a lot of life left in it. You can probably put another 100k on it and then still it for half of what you paid.

I know right.

Agree it will likely need new suspension bits and other odds and ends, but that could be half the fund. And the $downside, unless this really is a piece of crap, should be low. Even then, there will always be a market for this.

Looks for a lexus GX similar priced,  they usually come by once in a while in the low 20s(2010 and newer).

Someone down the court has a GX...my ego couldn't swallow that :)

Actually, I still like the 4Runner better...looks wise

You know, so do I. The off road pro looks fantastic....if only for that horribly underwhelming V6. I would have easily gone 4Runner if they still had the V8 option. I would say go for it, they are a no lose proposition, you'll get your money back down the road.

This place is becoming way too rational, so I'll leave this here for Bubba - no reserve auction, ends today! 4 750 USD, and not a Sebring  :stick:

And just look at the seller's garage !! It's a residential garage - you can see the house through the windows !!
