Canyons with the 5cyl are to be avoided, and Canyons with all other engines are to be avoided. They are not built right, and the GM shop I worked at had them in all the time, engine replacements, transmission recalls (PAWL problems, like locking in park while driving on the highway).

Just avoid those trucks unless you like FGC reliability.

Yeah from what I read only the 2.8 diesel is ok but $$.
even with the diesel, the transmission and cooling systems are problem areas. Also, good luck finding a diesel. Very rare.
If driving an Alfa does not restore vitality to your soul, then just pass the hospital and park at the morgue to save everyone time.

Now drives a Jaaaaaaag...and thus will not pay for anything during an outing...but it is OK, because....I drive a Jaaaaaag.

Truck memories for me on BaT:

My Dad bought a new one exactly like this one, right down to the model year, except silver with a different stripe kit. I was 19, had a ball in deep snow with that!

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1987-toyota-4x4-pickup-21/

And a few years prior, my grandad bought a new '79 C10 Custom DeLuxe farm truck, same config as this - rwd, 8' bed, 305 auto. The two-tone was brown with beige roof, and it had full wheel covers, but otherwise pretty damn close for a truck with myriad configurations. I learned to drive on this truck, I was 11 - cue "Country roads"  ;D. This unit is one of the famous NOS rescues from the Lambrecht auction. 4 miles on it!

That freaking Toyota is gorgeous, much want. That C10 needs way more low and that asthmatic 305 needs a replacement with something with a lot more cojones.
Lighten up Francis.....

115hp 5.0 V8  :rofl2:.  That said, I'd leave it as is, trying to keep it as original as possible.

What a sad time for humanity....theres no way I would be ok with that especially when even something like a Edelbrock top end kit and a FI kit should easily double the horsepower and then some.

It had the required torque! Back then farm trucks had permanent mud and snow's in the back to drive in the fields, and that 305 earned his unleaded lunch pulling various things around the farm.

Would not change a thing to this one, except new tires and add up some fair weather miles to that odo  :)

Oh, and with rough gravel roads, grandad lost one of the fancy full wheel covers, but I found a clean dog-dish hubcap just like the red one's under a building's porch and added it to the truck. It stayed that way through his ownership. Even when optioned with the full covers, the steelies where painted white, so easy swap!

That Toyota reminds me that I saw a super clean first gen 4Runner this weekend, top off. Been a long time since I've seen on that wasn't rusted apart.

That Toyota is awesome. I bet it really rings the bell, we should have friendly wagers as to what this stuff brings on BAT.

Had a 88 Toyota. I think those bed seams started rusting after being welded at the factory. Great truck other than the rust and the V6 flooding itself below -25  and the bushing (instead of bearings) front axle. Very noisy in the cold.

lol. Having had a 82 Toyota before the 88 the IFS was a welcome addition for 100% of the on road situations and 95% of the off road. In serious rock crawling the solid axle would have been better but the IFS made it so much easier to live with day to day.

1978 Dodge Aspen  $13,500

The price is crazy enough, but what the hell is with the hood decoration?

$85k!

Definitely trying to capitalize on the excitement the new Bronco is bringing to the retro-styled 4x4 segment.

It is very pretty, and in almost perfect condition, though.
