A 14k mile, 1992 Ford Mustang LX 5.0 5spd sold on BAT earlier today for $37,333 USD.
Thats ridiculous. You can get a used, 400+ hp, IRS Mustang used for that which is a better car in every imaginable way. Definitely way more money than brains

You're missing the point.

Do you think it would have been crazy to pay $20k USD for a 14k mile 1964 Mustang in 1992?

I don't know.  I do know that classic cars can go for huge money.  That being said, I suppose there is some element of desirability.  A 1964 or 1969 Mustang is certainly a desirable car.  Is a 1992 Mustang as desirable as one of those?  I don't know.  Somebody else certainly thought so.

Something is only worth as much as somebody is willing to pay for it!

I'd much rather have a 1992 5.0 LX than a 1964.

Me too.  I was only 2 in 1964 . The 1992 I can more relate to.

The Fox Body's are 30 years old.  They're classics now.

To put it into perspective:  A 1989 Mustang is to 2020 what a 1969 Mustang was to 2000.  And a 1969 Mustang was certainly considered a classic car in 2000.

Yeah but a 64 1/2 was a first year car, it was at least special. I didn't think the Foxbodies were anything to call home about, and I had one. To pay that much for a meh car from the 90s, is to me anyways, glue sniffing ludicrous.

How much does an unmolested 90's Supra go for again?

People paid crazy dollars for meh muscle cars a few years ago, some Darts with nothing special about them, etc. The Radwood Effect is in full swing now, newtimer classic cars from the 80s and 90s are really desirable now as those doing the collecting are beginning to be the ages where those cars were childhood dream cars etc. They are the new classics, get used to it :)

Its all these numpty old people ludicrous money for a inline 6 Camaro because "this is one of three cars that came with an 8 track, a clock and an armrest". Grrrr, I just need the bottom to fall out of the muscle car market so I can get a decent Buick GSX for less than the cost of a decent house in Idaho.

Oh, I get it.  So the value of what a 90's car should go for is based purely on whether you like it?

The LX 5.0 5spd cars are special in notchback form.  Informed buyers knew they were the quickest models.

Just never thought a foxbody without a Coyote/LS swap and tons of suspension tossed at it would ever be worth anywhere near $40k.

Well, you thought wrong, didn't you?  ;)

$37,333 USD = $52,620 CAD.

There's a guy in my neighborhood that owns a 90s Foxbody.  Not sure what he's got in that thing but it sounds diabolical.  Lots of nice iron around my hood but the sound of that one really stands out when i hear it coming.   8)

Man those dealers in that area are sketchy, however, those look like 2 pristine rare examples. I wonder what their Carfax reports look like.
