Jacques Duval is a legendary Quebec-based auto scribe. He was also quite a racer in his time, Porsches being his track weapons of choice (he even owned a new 904).

His old 914-6 race car just went for $995,000 at Gooding&Co. One of 16 factory race versions built in 1970, Duval placed it first at the '71 Daytona 24 hrs in its category.

Duval was a good writer and a good driver, but not a good investor as he let go of these cars way too early. He's in his 70's now and has become a full-tilt Tesla slappie, of all things.

I was wondering how much that would go for.   :fall:

Looks like a Euro-market model since it lacks the side-indicators and has amber indicators in the taillights.

Factory race car for private teams, not a street model - that explains what you noticed  :)

Timely find...

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1985-ford-bronco-ii-3/

Wow those rear/side windows!  That's a LOT of glass!!  At least you'd get to see the mountains on your way to your rollover death... :P  What a view!

Also, such a clean looking unit...and they spent NO time cleaning under the hood.  Fack.  Really?  A couple shots of Castrol Super Clean and a rinse, and it looks like new.  5 minutes or less.  If you're trying to sell it...best foot, not fungus toes.  Makes a world of a difference to buyers.

We had a '88 Bronco II for a while. The windows were nice. It was tippy for sure but we never rolled it. Ours overheated on a regular basis and had an nasty engine knock. Super rusty even back then but the interior held up well.

There's a lifted one running around here, complete with oddly narrow tires. Thing must drive terrible, looks like it's about to tip over sitting still.

What did they cost to buy in 1986?  No way less than $14K.  The owner might recoup his cost.  Maybe.

Ron might have some regrets about selling his Supra based on the numbers some of them are pulling lately, yikes.  One of my car-enthusiast buds lives in Vangrooy and a friend of his dropped just over $100K for a 97 Supra Turbo, and was happy as hell at that price.

If they bought the car for $4,000 up front, then the storage cost plus purchase price would be $25,000. $14,000 is still a huge loss.

Ours felt like we got on two wheels once on an extremely windy highway after passing a semi when the full force of the wind hit. Ekk. The 2.9L engine was garbage as well (in general and my specific one).

I drove a co-workers 1990 with the 3.0 (iirc) years ago and yeah, kinda tippy. Nowhere near as bad as a early Suzuki Samurai though, yikes, those are downright spooky to drive. I bet a modern side by side has more stability (safer too).

My first vehicle was a Bronco Deux with the mighty 2bbl carburated, 2.8 V6 and a 4 1/2 spd transmission(second was as reliable as a meth head). It was fun, sketchy, cheap to work on and the thing was really decent off road as anything that you do not give two shits about it.
Lighten up Francis.....

After a new rad, water pump, hoses, thermostat, flushing the coolant system with all sorts of non environmentally friendly products, mine would only overheat in traffic on the hottest days  ;D

My first car was a Bronco II as well, but I had an '89 with the fuel injected 2.9. Fun little truck but I had a ton of issues with mine. Didn't help that for some reason it had been specced with the optional push button 4x4 system despite being a base model with crank windows and a bench seat.

That V8 Volvo is pretty darn nice.

I like the Honda CB - very well done.

My middle boy is looking for a Fiero project car. Has to be manual transmission.

Besides the ugly rear lights this one is very cool. I don't think they will insure a teenager on an engine swap car though

This one would be ok but its a lot of money for a four cylinder with ugly aftermarket rims.
