Perfect Cayman spec...GTS, silver with cocoa leather, and manual...

https://www.autotrader.ca/a/Porsche/Cayman/Oakville/ON/5_46501055_20130514154504577/?loc=L6L5N1&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIud6a89P55QIVCg5pCh1t5QP5EAEYASAFEgJG5_D_BwE

They sure keep their value well. That would have been what, $110k new?

Yup...and with only 12,000 km its still practically a new car...

Ugh, so this sort of thing pisses me off:

I believe a 2015 Grand Caravan CVP (as base as it gets) MSRP'd for $19 999.

Well this used-car dealer has one (with 77 000kms) on sale for $15 998.  That's a mere $4000 less than what it sold for when new.  And a Grand Caravan is one of the most heavily depreciating non-luxury vehicles you can buy.

https://www.carvista.ca/vehicles/2015/dodge/grand-caravan/winnipeg/mb/38686726/?sale_class=used

They (or some other dealership) probably took it in for a mere $6-7000 on trade.

To compare, when we bought our van in 2017, it was a 2012 (so 5 years old at the time) with 50 000kms.  It was far from base, being an SXT with 2nd row Stow N Go Captains Chairs, rear climate controls, rear power windows, U-Connect system, rear DVD screen, etc.  It was a nicely equipped van, and had fewer kms than the one in the ad that I linked to.  And it cost a mere $12 500.

It just pisses me off that a A TON of these used car places price their used cars so obscenely.   And I bet you my daughter that if you were to walk in there with a trade, they would lowball the heck out of you.

I see a TON of cars with Car Vista stickers on the back.  They're obviously a high volume used car lot, and they seem to deal with only newer vehicles.  It's just their pricing that sucks.

Compare that to the place we bought our Altima and DGC from (The Car Store on Main), which is also a used-car only lot, but at least their pricing is reasonable, and to my knowledge hits the mark.

MSRP was actually $27,995 though obviously with incentives they were often available for $20k. But that $20k was also before freight/PDI. Realistically they were $22k at best.

Because used vehicle depreciation only applies when its the dealer making an offer on your trade, not when it comes time to price vehicles to sell.

It just bugs me, is all.  Everyone is entitled to be annoyed by something.

Of course, but the dealer is offering a service...not just a used Caravan.   They have a lot, advertise the cars, actively sell them (either themselves or with additional staff).   All that costs money, but saves you from visiting Joe Blow in his driveway to buy his used Caravan privately.   If they're only making $1-2 on the transaction, they won't survive.   Especially as a used car lot doesn't have the additional vehicle service revenue of a new car dealer.

Good news is you can buy whatever you want.

High MRSP with larger rebates so they did not kill the used car market

Sometimes there's a segment in the car collector world that will surprise us. This is one: oem beach cars.

Auction for this is acting up as the clock nears  the end, now sitting at ... $96,000  :o

Lovely unit though, looks perfect, one of the first 13 MINIs imported to the US.

Note to self: find the 12 other ones in barns, auction off on BaT, then retire somewhere warm.
