I'm wondering why they don't go a step further an use peltier devices to recoup some of that heat energy into electrical energy as well? I saw that GM and BMW did a study on this a while back but never could find why it wasn't implemented.

...that, and Lexus uses it in the 450h applications.  I'm not sure if it's used in the Toyota products.

What I like about this is that they used the 1.8L (sounds like a lot of Volt components), and the layout looks like the trunk space won't be terribly compromised.  With GM's vault-like (that is, quiet) interiors of late, coupled with the easy highway cruising, this could make for one excellent vehicle (assuming rear-seat space isn't compromised).

I would still like to see GM change the name from Malibu to something more appealing.
