The number should perhaps be $5,000,000,000  ?

500 MILLION dollars is the price tag quoted in the Charleston, South Carolina newspaper.

Although Mercedes has been assembling Sprinters from 'knock down' kits in South Carolina for over a decade this is still big news.

This is the first all-new, full-line assembly plant announced for the the dollar-paying portion of North America since VW Chattanooga in 2008.

This decision by Mercedes breaks a string of at least 7 plants that have been built/announced for Mexico in the intervening years.
