Silver Wing numbers on Fuelly are all over the place from 3.8 to 5.5. I was assuming I would get around 5 +/- 0.5 would put me at 320 on 16L but allowing for 2L reserve puts me down at 5.0. I heard the Silver Wing like all bikes do a lot better in the city which is where I’ve been doing a bulk of my riding so maybe I could see 4-4.5?

So, small bikes like this, do you have to drive them everywhere at WOT just to keep up with traffic?  Or do they have enough power to not have to accelerate as hard as possible each time?

Isn't this a 600?

It should be a rocketship compared to most 4 wheeled vehicles, at least until autobahn speeds

Nah, they're not sport bike engines. Mine has 60hp

0-60 5.9 seconds for mine.
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

Oh, well that's lots.  More than enough power to outpace traffic if needed.  What's they're top speed?  Are they highway capable?

My Silver Wing only has 50 HP so the top speed seems to be about 170 with a 0-60 in the high 6. I’ll test it out sometime. It’s effortless, the only reason to pin the throttle is because I want to.

I was looking at a 400 scooter, that would’ve done 0-60 in the 9s with a top speed in the 150s.

My R3 with the twin 320cc producing about 35 HP had a top speed of about 160 (I got it up to 181 slightly downhill full race tuck once) with a 0-60 in the low 6’s. Manual transmissions are definitely faster than CVTs.

That's not lots...that's nothing for a bike! 600cc sport models make 115hp. 1000cc are 200hp+

But yea, my scoot easily outpaces traffic as will Dkaz's.

Yea, definitely highway capable...that's where these large scooters really shine.

Top speed is 175km/h on mine.

First tank 4.5 L/100km. Mostly suburban duty with one brief highway jaunt and a failed 1/4 mile test (it said 15.6s which is believable @ 69 mph which is not)

Compared to my previous scoots and bikes:

2004 Yamaha BWS 3.7 L/100km
2014 Honda CBR 125R 3.0 L/100km
2004 Yamaha Vino 125 3.6 L/100km
2015 Honda CB 300F 4.0 L/100km
2017 Yamaha R3 4.4 L/100km

Nice choice Dkaz! how long have you been back in Kelowna?
yes, Ron has a BMW 650 Scooter (BMW version of the Silver Wing).

Yep...I have a BMW C650GT with Highline package. Full luxury. Auto heated grips, auto heated seats (for rider and passenger), power windshield, TPMS, traction control, etc etc This thing really eats up the miles...and it's a fantastic commuter. I took it to work 90 straight days...rain or shine.

And unlike many scooters, this one has appropriately sized tires...same diameter on either end which helps a great deal in handling.

They’re so amazingly versatile. Bikers will downplay them as Corollas on two wheels, which is a partially correct statement. They’ll still take curves but they’re easy and hassle free to ride.

I’ve seen widespread reports of CVT problems with the Burgman EDIT: just the 650 not the 400 so I’d steer you towards any other brand if going with a 600+. BMW is made by Taiwanese scooter maker Kymco who makes a lot of scoots for other brands plus their own and are among the most reliable.

Looking for an exhaust that’s lighter and has less chrome. There’s Delkevic which I like the look of.

Leovince, it’s stainless but at least it’s not chrome.

My kid went for a short ride with me yesterday.

Another good option. I would've liked something a little smaller like the Delkevic, but I also don't want to :censor: off my neighbours.

I didn't know you could get Arrow exhausts for scooters, that's pretty cool.  What about Hindle (local)?

Choosing a car based on reliability is like choosing a wife based solely because she is punctual. There is more to it than that...

I have an Akrapovic in my garage for my scoot!   :o
