Do what my friend did to his Corolla, add 400 lb of sound deadening material (Dynamat). He came from a Crown Vic so the bar was set pretty high for him.

My 2nd gen 3 is pretty quiet btw compared to my 1st gen 5.

400lbs of dynamat in a Corolla?  Wow that car would be a slug.

Lol yup. We tested 40 to 80 acceleration side by side on the freeway one day. Both 5 speed manuals, he had an 06 S I had an 08 CE. I pulled ahead by a few metres, nothing drastic. His cabin was quiet.

Additional sound insulation in any car will slow it down, but this is especially true with the smaller engines. If anyone's ever driven the current gen tC, it's a bit loud by modern standards. But pretty fun to drive with the lighter weight for the engine output.
