Awesome. Nice little commercial in there too.

Did Snowman order one or is he waiting for the GT5?  ;)

I don't generally lust after things I can't afford... but... Yoda be damned, this car is exactly what Porsche was missing from their current line-up. A manual light-ish weight Cayman 911-slayer. I'm a way bigger fan of the Cayman chassis and setup than the 911.
If it shifts, it drifts.

I was all set and ready to order a base manual M4 in the next couple of months when I saw this last night.....wow!

Anyone know if it is easy to order a base Porsche? Really wouldn't want to go over 100k and I am sure all of these they will have at dealerships will be in the 115k to 130k range.

A MotorTrend review of the GT4. It's over the top...the review that is...and if you believe it, the car too.

Can it be as good as they say?

R&T thinks so...http://www.roadandtrack.com/new-cars/first-drives/a25226/porsche-cayman-gt4-first-drive-review/

And once again, Baruth has to be the contrarian.  Without actually driving the thing.  Because, well, it's TTAC and all...

The wing is not a visual garnish in this case. I believe it's a functional spoiler and designed to actually add downforce...up to 240lbs I think.

Perhaps aerodynamically/funtionally speaking, the wing has been integrated into the design.

there are a lot of cars much faster than this thing that didn't slap a big garish wing on the back....imo, the gts would be THE cayman to buy.

Sure but those cars are not necessarily designed with track use in mind, which the GT4 obviously is.

Agreed.

Not douche at all.   This the "special-est" special edition of special Cayman's. (special)    If you're concerned that your track-spec sports car looks too sporty, you probably shouldn't be buying the track-spec one.

If anything deserves a big garish wing, it's this car.   I'd say it's actually a rather nice balance between over-the-top yet still stylish.

How do you look like a douche driving your track spec awesome Porsche? Seriously, you come across as a douche thinking people who are driviing it automatically look like a douche, haha.

Chris Harris explains how the wing is integrated into the rest of the aero on the car:

Thank you for the compliment.  Ask about a dozen of your friends at work who aren't corvette fan boys...ask the women what they think when they see the Cayman gts and the Cayman gt4 with its big douche bag wing that will never be used by 98% of the people buying this car. Ask them their impressions.

I'm always amused at the myopia on this forum.

I dunno. Most of my friends would love to own this car and I think it's amazing. I also think I just about the only Corvette fan boy I know.

In any event I would never buy a car based on what other people think but rather what makes me happy. Would I practice self-restraint on an over the top super car like a Lamborghini? Perhaps. Still, I don't think the wing on this track spec car is particularly gaudy as I think it blends in well with the overall design and is functional.

If you'd like to lay low in your GTS that's fine, I understand, but I think it's obtuse to say the wing on the GT4 makes one look like a douche.

100% agree!

I'd have a hard time paying for the GT4, despite how cool I think it is.  Especially when you could get a Viper (or other bonkers car) for the same money...

To each their own obviously, but no way I'd take a Viper over this GT4.
