How should Noto and his Turd of a friend get to Tremblant this weekend?

Porter flights (directly to Mont Tremblant) ($449pp)
2 (15.4%)
Via Rail ($190pp, but only goes to Mtl, thereafter we'd rent a car with winter tires for $29 for the weekend and return by train)
0 (0%)
Rent a car in the GTA ($87 all-in for the weekend, but 'new' all-season tires, according to the sack at the local rental car counter...)
4 (30.8%)
Don't bother going - too expensive, Tremblant is sh!t, and your friend is equally made of fecal matter
7 (53.8%)

Advice on transportation to/from Mont Tremblant from Toronto
« on: February 03, 2015, 12:54:23 pm »
So my buddy and I want to hit up Tremblant this weekend for funzies, driving up Friday after work, skiing Sat/Sun, and returning Sunday after skiing.

There are, of course, 3 options (see poll):

Though this is the buddy with the AWD IS250 + Pirelli winters, he's a turd and doesn't want to take his car, relegating risk of our safety to his fear of nothing rational.  Ugh, what a turd.

Anyhoo, if I'm just being a nut, fearing the wrath of All-Seasons (despite having used them all-year long until 2010), let me know.  Alternative, if I'm being a cheap bastard, let me know.  Hotels aren't cheap, nor are lift tickets (but flash sale on now helps with Sunday's ticket - $49.50pp), so it's all doable.

Buy winter tires for your Corolla - take that. Job done.

I picked option 4....but really, I agree with Jacob, for the cost of flights, rentals blah blah blah, you can get some decent winters on the old 'Rolla and take that and really make your girly man friend look stupid for not taking his AWD car.  ;D
Lighten up Francis.....

You might be okay with all seasons but I have seen cars stuck in parking lots there with winters.

The roads get pretty bad in the area, took a subaru with winters once and was still worried as the roads were just so icy.

Get friend to man up.  Great car for a trio why not take it?

Corolla has Xi2s on, 5th season.

...but it's papa Noto's car, and I'm not entitled to take it.  Jeez, Jables, you had 4 options, pick one!

irrational fear of losing the car, which is, in his opinion, "his baby".

Though the Porter option is probably the easiest.

That said, I would just drive on all season's and be careful if there's snow.  But then, I bring more than a 6-pack of beer to a cottage weekend.

Never been, but I would be inclined to turn right at Cornwall and ski Titus.  Not quite in the same league as Tremblant, but I'm not really a fan of that hill anyway.  Titus is a hell of a lot closer too.

Porter then rent a car in QC as they all have winter tires.

How is he going to lose his car?  And even if he does that's what insurance is for.  Nobody wants to steal a poverty model Lexus haha I kid I kid

Picked the last option. The first IMO is ridiculous to spend over $1500 for 2 days of skiing, especially at Tremblant.

We'd be meeting friends at Tremblant, so it's preferable.  They're going on different days/live in Mtl.

Then the Forester?? Or the hybrid Lexus thing?!?!??!
RX400h is Mama Noto's car, so also a no-go.

Forester is shared with Lady Noto, but is currently in NY State as her vehicle.  It is, therefore, not a possibility.

does Noto not have a car....Im so confused.....
Noto does not have a car of his own, other than shared ownership with the Lady on the Fozzie.

Porter then rent a car in QC as they all have winter tires.
Porter flies directly to Mont Tremblant...no car necessary if we go with that option.

Buy your own car then lawyer boy! :D  :rofl2:
...but then I won't have money to spend on you, Sugar Bear ;)

I think I'd prefer all-seasons on a full-size rental to putting 1600km on a new, RWD FR-S (btw, I'm Subaru slappie, so it'd be a BR-Z) with less ground clearance.

I am discounting any suggestion other than the ones listed in the poll.  I will not be buying a car in the winter to take it on a 1,600km ski trip.

...I'd also have to buy a roof rack if I bought an FR-S - skis won't fit inside.

because when he peers out of his basement room  in mama Noto's house he can see them out there.    ;D
