^ That's really sad. I hope things turn out for the best.

John's sister in law too. At least it's just more testing at this point. Hopefully it's benign.

Thanks SirO.  Got a text from Mike late last night.  Cliff (they've known each other for over 30 years) has deteriorated.  He's in neurological intensive care and on a feeding tube.  I know Mike is taking this really hard.  It's moments like this that drive the distance from here to Hartford home...

Oh man.

I hope you can all find peace.

Best wishes.

From what I've read mammogram imaging can have a lot of false positives.

I'm sure image quality has improved over the last few years but this Malcolm Gladwell article is probably still relevant.

They also often miss.  Depends on the tissue type.  Dense tissue a problem.   MRI's see everything, but have a 90% false positive rate.  Breast cancer is much more complex than ppl think.  A complete genetic screening really brings the matter into focus.

Just got a call from Mike.  The doctors declared his friend Cliff brain-dead last night.  He had been on a breathing tube since Sunday.  Cliff's son is going to travel to Boston to be there when they turn off life support...  Mike wasn't hopeful of a recovery, and he's very much a realist and puts up a brave front, but I also know he's a sensitive, gentle soul, and as he said to me a while ago, he's tired of burying friends. Cliff was 64.

Yep, my wife had clear mammograms even after her breast cancer diagnosis.

If driving an Alfa does not restore vitality to your soul, then just pass the hospital and park at the morgue to save everyone time.

Now drives a Jaaaaaaag...and thus will not pay for anything during an outing...but it is OK, because....I drive a Jaaaaaag.

That's the rub with induction.  When they work it's the best but long term reliability didn't seem to be there. They're the FGC of the range world.

I paid $300 for my Samsung induction range so if it goes I may get a gas stove. Or just get another induction since it is my favorite.

That's terrible. You both have my sincere condolences.

Peace.

I bought a cheap single burner table top induction unit from Costco last year and it works pretty well for the money.  The weird thing though is that pans tend to slide off the burner.  My counter is not perfectly level though, so probably not an issue with a properly installed range, or cook top.  I have to hold on to the pan while stuff cooks.

They're great for boiling large pots of water for pasta.  That's mainly what we use ours for now.
