2015 Toronto RV Show
« on: January 29, 2015, 12:02:56 pm »
If this is a duplicate thread about trailers, I apologize, I couldn't find it.  Anyone looking at trailers in the next little bit.  I know blotter mentioned it before.  I am starting to lean towards the R-Pods, the Rockwood Mini-lites, and a brand my Dad mentioned at an RV show in the US, called Sonic.  They have a dealer in Smithville.  They have murphy beds in them (bed that goes into the wall).

Anyone going to the RV show at the end of February?

Nope, but I've seen my fair share of fancy motorhomes. You can get some absolutely crazy stuff and spend some serious coin ($2 million +) on a motorhome if you're so inclined.

Are you looking for a regular trailer or a fifth-wheel?

Hate motorhomes, Dad has had 2.  Finally thinking of getting rid of his A class, in the next 2 years.. Not a fan of fifth wheels either.  I want something a little more than a tent, but don't like hassle of pop-up.  So 17-20 feet travel trailers.

The RV show here is next week. We usually go with the neighbors as its February and too cold to be outside, good way to kill a few hours. The only thing I do not like about the Rpods is the lack of headroom their shape causes. Beyond that, just make sure that whatever you get has the seamless fiberglass exterior, that aluminum siding crap is oh so easy to damage.
Lighten up Francis.....

thanks for posting this!!!

I would have forgotten about the show.

One trailer we really want to see in person is the Safari Alto.
they now have a fixed roof version.   They sell them at the Canam RV centre in London.
But I'm guessing we could see it at the show instead.

here's a question...
fibergrass vs alumfiber
i'm thinking the aluminum bodies are better health wise? (chemical leach / vapours?)

We've thought about getting an used RV. I think the kids would love it since I can't convince them to go camping, unless it's in the backyard. Maybe an RV would be a good motivator!

I know that, you know that....DOT checkstop won't care. If you tried to go into BC with a truck camper on your 1/2 ton you would be pulled over, fined, have camper confiscated till you had a vehicle rated to haul it come pick it up and pay storage fees till such time.

That's why I like the A-Liner.  Yea, it's a pop-up...but not in the same sense.  Up/Down in about 1 minute.  Rigid walls.  Secure.  Easy to tow.

I have seen them, inside/out.  The real premium in the price is the low weight.  One side has a dinette, that folds down for two.  Other side is a double bed or queen.  Nothing special, build quality is good.  But I can get that in the R-Pod as well, for similar pricing.  With a Rockwood mini-lite, weighs a bit more, but there is a U-shaped dinette, a bit more space, for the same kind of money...

But thats why I go to the show.  To re-evaluate.
