I can't tell if new or not. Just looks like a refresh of the Compass/Patriot....Anyways it's Fiat 500X underneath. I think I prefer the Fiat design.

That looks more Juke to me than anything, except the rear doesn't slope quite as dramatically.

Reminds me of the MINI Countryman, moreso than the 500 reminds me of the MINI somehow. I'm actually surprised by how much I like it because the regular 500 doesn't do much for me, and the 500L is uglier than sin.

That 500x looks fantastic. Very clean modern and attractive design.

It does look like a Mini Countryman a lot.

Hopefully it's good, the 500L is a POS.

Fiat as a brand ranks at the bottom for reliability...something that would definitely prevent me from dropping my cash down on it.

I've read somewhere they were going to change the slush box. Not that will help.

Here's  a good video showing how the 'sky view' roof works...manual and powered:

A year after this was posted and I'm surprised I haven't seen more on my the road.  It's cute, practical, good on gas and if you watch the options affordable.   I've only seen a couple on the road which is odd as Jeep sells here.  Wonder if people think it's a rebodied Compass or Patriot?

I've seen one! It is too pricey so people likely prefer the Cherokee or just go straight to the reasonably priced competitors.

The competition gets real pricey too if you add on the options.  Same with the Cherokee.   I think they just change the layout of the option packages so you can keep it under $30k with mainstream options.   I'm not concerned with things like leather and image based off road packages.

I am talking base + auto here - config most people would want.
The Renegade rings at $30k in the North + auto transmission.

For comparison sake:
HRV EX: $26.7k (better equipped than the Jeep)
CX-3 GS: $25.1k (similarly equipped)

I had the opportunity to drive both the 500X and the Renegade back to back. It was a sponsored event that unfortunately consisted only in a short and confined drive so I would not make a final assessment based on this experience that was quite underwhelming, mostly due to the poor powertrains performance.

The Fiat interior fit was just awful. I haven't not seen so many loose trim pieces of heard so many squeaks in a new car since... ever actually. I was going to refer to the Hyundai Stellar but even that car was better when brand new.  The Jeep was far superior on that aspect and it is clear Jeep engineering requirements are far more extensive that Fiat's.

with different parts... and ben knows his jeep stuff especially the engineering aspect, so i trust him on that one...

i'm going to bring a stick 'sport' model home for my wife to check out... she wants a stick shift, she's used to the patriot and needs a decent amount of space along with fuel economy... fits the bill i suppose.

we've sold like 4 of them. that's it. as others have said, the price is definitely a tough sell when the cherokee is nearly the same price for what seems like a bigger (read: more robust, longer lasting) vehicle... also, it has the same negatives

yes price is a major problem on this vehicle as well as the Fiat 500x.  It appears to do better in the US where the pricing is a bit more sensible.  I was just looking at the 2016 500x and Renegade pricing and the 500x is worse than the Renegade, for example:

Lowest 2016 MSRP FWD in auto: (does not include freight)
Kia Soul - $19,895
Mazda CX-3 - $20,695
Chev Trax - $20,945
Honda HR-V - $21,990
Renegade - $24,630
Fiat 500x - $28,090
......................
Escape - $23,899
Tucson - $24,399
RAV4 - $24,990
Sportage - $25,195
Cherokee - $25,495
CR-V - $26,190
Mazda 5 - $26,195

If you want the lowest cost with AWD:
Mazda CX-3 - $22,695
Honda HR-V - $24,290
Jeep Renegade - $26,495
Chev Trax - $27,490
Fiat 500x - $29,690
......................
Crosstrek - $26,295
Escape - $27,199
RAV4 - $27,255
Sportage - $27,495
Mazda 5 - $28,195
CR-V - $28,550
Tucson - $28,999
Cherokee - $31,395

We just had a North 4x2 6MT. Other than the turbo lag from the 1.4T, it's a peppy little thing. Once you're moving, it's actually a lot of fun. Shifter is great, clutch has okay feel, and I quite like how the Renegade drives overall.

Wow!! The Mazda CX3 and HRV are the only ones that make sense in AWD.

And a small correction...the Escape S 4x4 with no freight is $27,199.00
