I’ve had some dreadfully slow ICE vehicles that would make a 12 second 0-60 feel downright sprightly.

My old Mazda pickup was in the 20 second range when I timed it, but I was still one of the faster people in town. Most people take it pretty easy

Same with offramps, most drivers here seem to hit the brakes at any kind of G-force (my central B.C. parents joke that's the quickest way to identify an Alberta driver)

So true!

You'd think my Prius had F1 levels of grip on off ramps.

But no, the others are just driving so incredibly slow.
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

Having driven the current gen Prius Prime I can say it is perfectly fine with keeping up with traffic. I even did a short test run on the highway on pure EV and brought it up to speed to about 110 km/h and it was perfectly fine! Need more power when driving on the highway? Just keep switch it over to hybrid mode. Best of both worlds IMO.

You aren't racing from red light to red light in Vancouver traffic unless you are a Tesla driver or a complete douchebag   :rofl2:

As a former slant-six owner, I can relate.

Quite a few EV now have cash on the hood - in Quebec, no less - to move them. $4k off on the MX-30 (understandable), $5k off on Ariya, $5k off on Solterra, etc. The MX-30 is now at $35k all-in, not bad if the range suits you.

Also noticed resale values for EVs have tanked in QC, especially for Leafs and their legacy ChaDeMo tech.

Isn't the Leaf going to be discontinued soon?

Current model yes. Will Nissan keep the Leaf name for the new model?

I am seeing Ford Lightning standard range XLT trim in the high $60s before incentives. Weren't these like $80k+ a year or so ago?

Then a used EV with low mileage is quite good value proposition.

$3500 on the hood of Toyota's BZ4X these days. Admittedly the BZ4X is a far from being the most interesting EV on the market today.

I think most people shy away from used EV's due to the lower amount of warranty and knowing that when something does go wrong with the complex EV components that the vehicle is almost always a right off.  They make sense as a lease and give back before things go bad.

This. Definitely worth considering as a secondary vehicle.

As you point out, particularly the "compliance" EVs like the BZ4X and Lexus RZ will be great used buys IMO.

Their weak points are range and fast charging. But for commuters yes, great used buys.

It's a 10 year 240k warranty on battery/EV components for Toyota.

Which is far more than most ICE.

If there's a concern, it's due to ignorance.

Ya, 320km isn't road trip worthy.

But as you point out, definitely commuter worthy.

Cabin in RZ is a nice place to be!! I might even be tempted to own one as our second vehicle in a couple of years as the price comes down further

Oh I know this is true, it's just the perception that keeps people from going used EV's.  I actually don't know a single person who bought their EV used.  Buying one lets say after a typical lease period is over, say 4 years, means that you basically have a countdown to either the kms or 6 more years before the vehicle is basically scrap value.  Knowing that reselling the vehicle during that time period will be tough and dealers will value it that much less, is another barrier to entry.  Again, this is speaking generally and does not apply to all EVs or buyers, just generally how the public has treated used EVs.
