For the cruise we're considering, flight is included, but if you arrange your own flight there is a $1,200 US credit. So, say $1,500 Cdn
Now searching for flights into Monte Carlo and out of Venice.  Haven't been able to find anything near that $1,500 price...  :(
Look at air transat, YYZ to Paris, spend a couple of days, train to MC , then Venice to YYZ

DO NOT fly into Monte Carlo.

Fly into the south of france.  MC is only an hour away by the easiest train you could imagine.  It'll save you a bundle.

Dude, this is very last minute!!  Doesn't the cruise leave on Monday?!

Transat to Marseilles and home from Venice is $1,113pp incl tax, but returns on Aug 30 (nothing later than that :( ).

Thanks man --

Trip is for next August.
We just started poking around flights last night -
The last trip into Italy we took Air Transat and liked them, so good to know they fly into Marseille.
If we can find a cheap flight into Paris may even do that and take a couple days to meander south.

99% sure we're doing that Oceania cruise.

Anyways, if you ever do decide to come this way and really want to cheap out, you can stay here and we can bomb around in the S2000 and go for a brewery tour at Canucks! S2K b&b.... :D
Sh!t, that sounds incredible.  If that offer is extended, I'll try to find the time!

As NT says, that offer is extremely appreciated  ;D

i booked 5 day trip out to Maui.   never been, so it would be a good trip.  at least i hope so.

as for the expensive in-canada flight from west to east coast,   I just looked on westjet to St. John.
cheapest is $817, red eye.    (return, of course, because i gotta get back home somehow)
then you gotta pay for lodging, food, etc.

i can get a 1 week all inclusive in mexico or jamaica at that price.

i'm paying $1100 for my 5 days in Maui, includes lodging.    so you can see, it's expensive to travel within Canada.

Driving thrills makes my wallet lighter.. and therefore makes me faster because i'm shedding weight... :D

 I miss Hawaii so much.  Such great hiking.  I only went to the Big Island and Kauai though.

At 360 day out you can usually find airfare pricing for your trip

Pretty much settled on this cruise for next August.
Anyone have experience with Oceania?

https://www.oceaniacruises.com/grand-voyage-cruises/monte-carlo-to-venice-RVA160817A/?sr=%2fcruise-finder%2f%23sailDates%3d2016%7c08

This cruise just dropped $500.   :bounce:
Price is still quite eye watering... the 1/2 Scot in me is a cheap ba$tard.

Also looking at a couple of Mediterranean cruises with Holland America -- cheaper, but they don't excite me like this one.
Have you check out vtg pricing or even Crucon

Just for sh!ts and giggles, I priced out a couple of things.

Current special to Portugal.  Return airfare from Toronto direct to Portugal, 3 weeks in a one bedroom apartment overlooking the beach, and a rental car.  $1614 taxes included.  Same dates, airfare only from SJ to Vancouver is $1152.  Hmmm, wonder which one I'd choose?   ;D

Yup!  Honestly, I'd love to travel more in Canada, but it's just crazy expensive compared to Europe and going South.  It's a shame, but the vast majority of my travel dollars aren't spent in my own Country.

Anyone ever done a group tour in China? They seem to come up for reasonable prices.

My wife has asked me to make our trip to Vegas in November as inexpensive as possible for once  :P So I used points for all our AC flights on Rouge cattle class with exit window seats and staying at an off strip condo. So far this 4 night trip is only costing me $480.
