Last trip to Italy we spent 2 days on Capri (Anacapri to be more precise).  Absolutely our favorite place we've ever been to.
Been to Rome 3x, so that day could be a day to just stroll around a bit.  Also been to Venice 3x, but arrived either via air or rail.  Would be great to arrive on the boat.

Other plus for the Oceania is it avoids other areas of Italy we've already been to (eg. Florence & Pisa - seeing them once is plenty).

We do look for deals, our last Med cruise on Silhoutte was inside cabin 14 nights , Italy, Greece , Turkey and  Israel , $534 CAD with $300 obc  , and since we are Elite we get drinks in the evening , and coffees in the morning
Arriving in Venice , you got to get up early :P

In Morzine and loving it with the bike park. Too many damn Brits though, I kind of want to punch them in the face. I knew it was popular British holiday destination but geez it's like a British invasion. I would say 40% of the cars have a defective steering wheel installation. "Haha you have to put stickers on your headlights for the beam pattern correction !"

If you have the funds to give Oceania a try and it won't set you back in any way, I see this as an opportunity that you should take.  There are hundreds of Celebrity cruises that you could do any time.  This one is special, and IIRC, is for a special occasion :)

I know ya'll be shocked but all our summer days have been spent in the mountains with climbing as the #1 activity.

It's been a great summer for my daughter. She's taken a real leadership role. On our mountaineering climb of Mt Olive she did the route finding and lead climbing on the ascent. I only took over for the last section of our descent as she's gone for a ride in a crevasse and wanted someone else to take a turn out front.

The same for rock climbing this summer. She's taken "the sharp end of the rope" pretty much doing all the lead climbing.  She's found it mentally taxing, but then grabs the gear for the next pitch!  I'm just along for the ride now...

No big holidays for us yet, but lots to do on the weekends:

Met up with some buddies camping in Lesser Slave Lake, tried wakeboarding for the first time:

Last weekend worked the Folkfest for three days, good thing I'm ok with crowds and baking heat:

Heritage days before that, dragon boat festival this weekend, Edmonton and area has endless stuff to do.

I'm counting on it ;D

Nice newbie stance for the wakeboarding, by the way!  I'll be slalom skiing this weekend at buddy's cottage in the Kawarthas.

Paradise in PEI

Beautiful! We're headed to PEI on Saturday to spend a week at a cottage in the Brackley area along the north shore.  It's a little more rustic than the one you rented, though  :o

Either way, it's a great time and a wonderful island. Enjoy!
I love it when a plan comes together.

Take a trip out to KDS2K's neck of the woods. The roads and scenery look amazing. I am smitten.

east coast.   it's my dream, to one day get there, but it sure ain't cheap.

staying for a week in east coast is probably like staying a week in hawaii....   and i would rather hawaii at that price.

Might be heading to Winnipeg second week in September to party with fiends. Going to Vegas in November with same friends as our wife's are running in a marathon.  We boys will be doing other things while the girls behave and prep for the race  :)

So I don't get it.  East Coast is cheaper than West Coast.  US isn't as cheap as it used to be, given the state of our dollar.

Not sure what kind of budget you have, or how you want to travel.

Hey I hear you there!  My bil in kelowna is always asking us to fly out there, but I can fly to europe for a week all inclusive for what it cost just for airfare to there.  ::)

Anyways, if you ever do decide to come this way and really want to cheap out, you can stay here and we can bomb around in the S2000 and go for a brewery tour at Canucks! S2K b&b.... :D

Flying within Canada is hideously expensive.  The missus thought about her and the kid flying to visit her sister in Vancouver and then the inlaws in Vernon (Kelowna airport) but holy crap were the tickets expensive.  Driving is a PITA but I bet less than 5% of the cost.

When my parents were alive, they flew out to visit my sister in .BC by driving 1.5 hrs to Bangor, and flying to Seattle for like $200.  Beats the $1500 they would have paid to fly in canada.

When we flew to Arizona a couple of years ago, we flew out of Bangor, saved $600 per person.  For a family of four, that makes a difference.
