I hope you can change that background color because white background + driving in the dark is a terrible combo. I am also disappointed that Ford didn't go far enough with the design...it's the same 8in screen they've been offered for years!

oooh, Dominos!

Oh, wait, I'm supposed to pay attention to the road.

I'm shocked it took Ford this long to get rid of MFT, but there's no promise that this will be any more intuitive to those who do not use a smartphone (i.e. old people).

I suspect they were locked into a contract for X number of years.

You can pay out the contract, which is often the right choice if the part that you contracted for is actually hampering sales.

MFT didn't come close to 'hamper' Ford's sales...if you told me that it 'hampered' Ford's reliability ratings, then I'd agree...

Source that it didn't?  Personally, I know a few people who were so frustrated on test drives with MFT that they went out and bough different cars.  I don't have any hard stats, but nor do you, so you cannot make any positive claim as such.

Why QNX?

Why not Android which is the most widely used mobile OS on the market right now?

LOL just look at Ford sales! they were affected by season model refreshes....for example, right now the F150 is being affected by sales because people want the 2015.

QNX is actually really nice software, and Ford has been working on this with them for a little while now. If QNX is played right and interfaces nicely with both Android and iOS, it may compete well with Carplay and Android Auto since not everyone in a family is locked into one ecosystem.

Android Auto isn't actually out yet.

I wouldn't even look at Fords, because of MFT...One of many reason, but certainly a deal breaker.

I guess I'm the odd one here.  I owed an MFT equipped vehicle for two years and found it to be very easy to use and I enjoyed it.

I don't think you're odd.  I just think you're one of the few who has actually owned one.

Yeah, perhaps.   When I compare the MFT in my former Edge to the usability in my wife's current Civic it's not even close.  I despise the Civic in that regard.

Why QNX?

Why not Android which is the most widely used mobile OS on the market right now?

Because QNX rocks the embedded world.

Yep. QNX absolutely DOMINATES the car infotainment world, with 3/4 of the market share. GM, Toyota, Honda, Hyundai, Porsche, BMW, Audi, Mazda, Renault-Nissan, Volkwagen, and Land Rover are major customers of QNX. The main reason is customizability (QNX is willing to work with the manufacturers to develop an implementation specific to that manufacturer), open standards, and stability (an application crash does not cause the entire system to crash). The stability is why QNX is often used in power generation plants, such as nuclear powered ones.

QNX has a very long history in car infotainment systems; the company was originally owned by Harmon International before Blackberry snapped up the company a few years back.
