I hope people reward Ford for selling the RS by actually purchasing it!  There was all sort of excitement when the Chevrolet SS was announced, but its sales numbers are embarrassing.

It's also stupid expensive. Why buy the Chevrolet SS (which looks pretty bland, IMHO) when you can have a Chrysler 300 or Dodge Charger?

Car and Driver prefered it to the 2013 Dodge Charger SRT 392, so it must have some redeeming qualities.  It also goes like stink and is now available with a 6 speed manual for 2015.  http://www.caranddriver.com/comparisons/2014-chevrolet-ss-vs-2013-dodge-charger-srt8-392-comparison-test

Yup.  I also did like the now defunct Ford Falcon.  They get the cool cars over there, or at least the used to.

Looks fine IMO.  Could do without the rear splitter though.

The lease on my brother's STI hatchback comes due this summer.  He's been really wracking his brain about what to get when it's done and has been sad to admit that he'll be leaving Subaru after several of them in a row thanks to their decision to kill the hatchback.  I sent him this link this morning and he's very keen to learn about the pricing now.

WOW!  The Hot Hatch segment is amazing now with the Golf, Focus, and of course the STi.  Oh, wait, what?  There's no STi hatch?  NO WAY!

Is Ford poised to drink Subaru's milkshake?

Looks a great and some people are VW are probably loosing a little sleep after thinking they had this market to themselves after Subie dropped the hatch.

The AWD system sounds pretty good...

Quote
And it's not your regular dumb all-wheel drive. The Focus RS has torque vectoring all-wheel drive that can send up to 70 percent of the drive torque to the rear axle, and 100 percent of that torque can be diverted to one wheel. It monitors conditions between the front and rear continuously in order to establish where all that power goes.

I'm with you Snowy - especially with the tanking CDN dollar.  My guess is the Golf R only comes loaded in Canada, somewhere betweeen 42 - 45K.  But if based strictly on exchange rates, with the Golf R at 35 - 40K USD - could end up even higher than 45K in Canada.  But you'd think VW will have to hold the line, I can't see ANY golf - no matter how awesome - cracking 45K.

And the Focus RS might undercut the Golf R....but not by much.  I'd be (pleasantly) shocked if it came in under 40G.

Hey!!! We know, we know. It wasn't breaking anymore but I only do what they ask of me... and if they want the RS, I'll give 'em the RS, late or not!

A lot of car for 40K.

Don't worry, somebody will come along and complain about paying $40K for a Focus is crazy.

Indeed.  And there will also be "you don't need AWD, or more than 40hp, and if it can't carry crap like a mini-van can, then it's not any good, and oh, a manual transmission is nuts too..."

I'm a Subaru slappie through and through, but wow, this Focus would be very, very hard not to take.  Hatch?  Check!  Vectoring AWD?  Check!  300+ ponies?  Check!  Tres cool exterior?  Check!

Want.

The Golf R will be initially made in Germany and later in Mexico. Why does the strong USD matter? EUR/CDN exchange rate hasn't changed much.
