The Mazda6 just seemed underpowered when I drove it with the automatic trans. There just seemed to be a real lag in power. I wasn't impressed. I drove the Accord in both manual and CVT. Both seemed more responsive than the Mazda6, especially the 6 speed manual Accord. That's the one to get. The two drive trains look the same on paper, but not in the real world. I would like to try the Mazda6 manual, but good luck finding one. In fact good luck finding any selection of Mazda6. The local dealer rarely carries any, so selection of colour, trans, mdels etc. just isn't there. If I go up the road to the Honda dealer they usually have every combination available, including 2 door coupes, 6 speed manuals (among the best you can buy), and V6 models. Now, who's the real zoom zoom? Why would someone bother with a Mazda6 when you can get the first two levels of Accord (LX and Sport) for either less or around the same price. The Accord Sport is a great looking car and now comes with a sunroof standard for 2015. Name one thing the Mazda6 does better?
The same good selection is available at Ford, who have an extensive dealer system around the province. They also offer incentives. Mazda acts like they're cars are in demand when you look for a deal. Then you have Toyota. The Camry hasn't kept up in my opionion, but they keep selling, and have a reputation for reliability that people like.
Bottom line is, the Mazda6, despite universal media praise, good looks and handling is an unmitigated sales disaster.
